FX-1 Whats the deal with the ProTec pipe?

I have said pipe in my fx1 and it seems to make good power granted I have never ridden a stock Fx. Some people tell me its crap and others want to see what it looks like. So whats the deal? It seems rather large, whoever installed it had to grind a tiny bit of the fiberglass out to get the pipe to fit.

I ran one.. And yea it hits harder without a doubt... Id sell the protec pipe and put it twards a bpipe. Its all part of the package. Ask art at jetworks what he recomends. Plus art usually Ports motors to your particularsetup

Plus art usually Ports motors to your particular setup. So if you plan,on upgrading to a bpipe your bwtter off waiting for porting. Unless you go to one of these other shops that have a "one size fits all porting spec" there's a reason why mostly everybody runs em... when I was originally gonna send my old motor to art I had a coffmans pipe. And he told me I should get a bpipe before anything else...

Well if im spending the money to have HIM build my motor i'm gonna take his recomendations
Art did'nt build this guys motor. He was just asking if his pipe was anygood. It is a decent pipe is what I was saying. Everyone is always on FPP's jock and telling people that don't have one that they have crap. When he is ready to have a motor built then yes he should go by the builders reccomendations. Not sure how this got turned into what it is. Also what is Art gonna say for a pipe nowadays? Factory wet pipe, Factory drypipe, Powerfactor (FPP), not many choices. Also, all competent engine builders are able to build a motor around certain parameters, i.e. Pro-Tec pipe, and make them perform. Boz Man, if it runs good then run it. Keep an eye on the coupler if it is the cast "Mach" pipe and the top mounting bolt. When you are ready to go big talk to an engine builder and work it out,new pipe or work with what you have.

I think he is referring to another site where most people were saying that compared to the b pipe there is a difference and I think we can all say that there is, the protec is not junk, but not as good as a b pipe.. There is a reason that you dont see many if any built freestyle skis running protec pipes.. I think if I were to go through the trouble of porting id definitely want to have a b pipe and not a protec..

Agreed and along the lines of what I was trying to get at. For the new builds though most people are going to a dry pipe and after they run them they talk about an FPP wtt pipe like these guys talk about a Pro-Tec. The FPP wet pipe is good considering few options in the new pipe market but it is not the end all superior all others are crap pipe.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm also not sure how this got turned into an engine building discussion. I'm sticking with the pipe for now, it seems to make a good deal of power.
