What's this in the way of my scupper tube?

I'm trying to make a 2" hole for a PVC tube for my Versiplug and ran into this metal thing near the front. Any idea what it is and if I can get rid of it? Also, any other obstacles to expect?

Thanks, that metal screw that's visible inside the hole I cut looks like the same kind of screw as what's on the front side of the bulkhead. So can I grind it out now and punch the hole through? I've never heard of anyone else hitting this so am I drilling lower than most?

Well, I ground it out and it's just foam past that. I got a 2" PVC pipe lined up perfectly right along the bottom of the hull.

No, it's a screw that looks like the the one inside the bilge.

They can be ground / cut out. They were just there to hold the bulkhead in place while the glue set up. I removed them front and back on a few skis I have reinforced.

Cut it out, 24-7 use to have instructions explaining this. IT was just used to hold the bulkhead in place until the glue dried.

heres a pic from the back. I am doing the same install and was wondering if it would weaken it if i cut out both of those supports on the firewall.

Now that i hear it was just temporary it is getting hacked out.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to just take out the rear one and leave the front one in. The end of my PVC pipe was to the outside, right along the bottom this way. I'll post pics when I get the camera back later. Glassing it in later today.

Here's some pics of it finished. I used the 'peanut butter' method (chopped fiber glass strands in the resin) and left the tube sticking out a bit so the glass could bond to something. I did a bit more fiber glass to bevel it up on the outside. White pigment in the resin worked good but I ended up painting it after anyway.
