i believe it is a smaller charging system driven off the coupler. It's for lighter weight. Kinda looks like a cr250 flywheel.

its the charging system it supposedly made it easier to pull the motor. thats what I heard.

It was used to drive this before helmet cams

looks like it could be the ignition as well as it can be rotated to alter timing.also the wires going to ebox seem to go in the back of it.interesting.must use a toothed timing belt then.

I took that pic wayyyy back when. It was part of a charging system (generator). In those days there was a lot more experimentation going on :439:. Today it seems like its who can build a better set of footholds and who can ride with the shortest handlepole. :smashfreakB:

66e engines, Polaris engines, new hulls, etc, there is still tons of experimentation going on. Though, the 650 supercharger and dual plug ignitions and fuel injection systems are no more.

I do remember when rear exhaust was a cool thing to do. I wanted to put the Jetcraft rear silencer in my ski, I thought that was the coolest thing.
