I just got my first standup over the weekend and I can't wait to ride that sucker!!! Its a 94 SJ with A LOT of mods to engine done to it. guy i bought it from told me it was way too powerful for someone who hasnt ridden a standup before and at that point i had to have it!! haha we'll anyway just wanted to say whats up and cool site you got here.

Congrats, and welcome here!

I really don't think a 701 is "too powerful" for a beginner. In fact, I find the extra power to helpful (pulls you through turns when you might otherwise fall)

Congrats on the ski man. Bring it to lanier:biggrin:

As far as the power topic goes.....I wouldnt give a like a big bore kit to a newbie. I rode Harrison's ski when I first started standing up...like 2weeks into it maybe. It's still a 701 I believe and it about killed me. I was trying to ride but the power kept me in control wether then controlling the power.

Thanks for the welcomes. I have learned a lot of stuff by just reading everyones posts over the last month or two. still gotta stand up on it though once the spring hits!.. anyway here are some pictures. like i said, it has a lot of work done to it which is nice but wish i would have been able to do it myself.. just couldnt afford to build one with all these parts from stock. i did a compression check and both cylinders have 195psi. dont know what size domes are in the head though. maybe 32s. any ideas on what size or model those carbs are? they are some type of mikuni.
