yeah picked it up from brick last friday, paid 1500 for it.. couldnt resist. i figured even if i got there and it wound up needing a little work it was worth it just for all the aftermarket stuff that was on it.. but when i got there is was very clean started up immediatly and had equally high compression in both cylinders so now i cant wait to throw it in the water and see how it goes. i noticed its got the 62t cases too. but i cant tell if its 61x sleeves. might wind up taking it apart just to see what i got. lol

Be very careful with that engine....195 psi is borderline race gas.

Please use only the highest octane pump gas you can get, don't let the gas sit too long.

And no wide-open-throttle runs for more than a few seconds.

yeah it has a few gallons of 105 octane in it now from previous owner. im gonna stick to the race gas. would you guys still use 50:1 oil ratio?
also, it has ngk b8es plugs in it. should i stick with those plugs or get a differnt heat rating with the high compression?

Stick with those plugs.
IMHO, 105 octane gas is a waste of money, but it sure as hell is playing it safe.

Either do 50:1 with a high quality synthetic oil (Like Amsoil) or 40:1 with a lower quality oil.

I suggest you do a 1:1 mix of 91 octane pump gas and that race gas.

Can you run a high compression engine like this at wot for longer periods of time if you run race gas?

Yes.

If you stay away from WOT, you can safely run lower-octane gas in higher compression engines.
Example: I run 190psi in a ported 727, with a 35 degree initial advance on my ignition.
I use 92 octane gas without a problem. But, no WOT runs.

Reason being, WOT runs place the most stress on the engine, necessitating high quality fuel.

Nice looking ski there buddy, welcome aboard the crazy train.

You'll find plenty of friendly advise here from people that know.

Carbs look like buckshots to me, i see youre running TL too, Should be a nice snappy ski for loads of tricks

Enjoy

Yup, those are definately Buckshots, I have a carb that look just like that on my 94 blaster. I sent the stock 44 off to them and they machined the velocity stack and venturi along with the other internal circuit mods. They should work pretty good with the setup you have there.

the race gas and high compression concerned me a little bit but i think im gonna see how it runs and if it is dialed pretty well i will just leave it alone.
but i definitly might change my mind if you guys give me some good reasons other than cost of gas to lower the compression. im all ears.

On my carbs... the body of the carbs are definitly mikuni, you guys are saying that the mikunis where sent to buckshot and tweeked? i cant find much on the web about buckshot carbs.

about how much HP do you guys think this set up is making?
