Back in the late 80s my buddy Kelly and I tied his 650 mod up to a dock near Mote Marine (in Sarasota, Fl) and were dialing in his new dual 44s. We were making a lot of noise and smoke (because the boat wasn't moving) and a Police Officer shows up and starts talking to us; asking us questions because he was generally interested. I the middle of this some 60+ year old lady storm up and asks the cop if he was going to arrest us! "No Ma'm" was the replay and I thought the old lady was going to stroke out right there. "But just look at what they are doing!!! I'm with Mote Marine and I can't believe you are going to let them just pollute like that!!!" I actually tried to tell her that we were trying to tune it so that it would pollute less (I was in high school back then and was a bit on the naïve at the time), but it fell on deaf ears. Eventually both she and the Police Officer left and Kelly whispered to me "It's a good thing she left first, or that cop would come back to find her tied up with this rope..." It was funny coming from Kelly because he was one of the most Happy-Go-Lucky guys I ever new...
Also, just for context, back in the day Mote Marine use to operate a nasty old diesel center console launch that used to belch black smoke into the air, like some old 1920s tug boat.

The site has existed since January of 2006. I guess it's been a boring place for the first seven years (and a few months, since he was banned for a few months since he joined).

i'm just comic relief for some and a source of aggravation for others. i do enjoy being both and if i can help answer the occasional tech or general info question, i think i've earned the right to be both. its funny how when i call somebody out, its a personal attack and i get banned, but i see posts all the time, where i'm called a scum bag, d-bag or idiot and nothing happens. i guess thats where their more time on the pond, gets them a look in the other direction.just know that i'll never give bad or incorrect info if i'm asked a question. dont ask a question that you dont want to know the real answer to, i dont sugar coat $hit.
