What kind of mods should a 62t/61x engine have to make the extra cost of Vforce2 reeds over carbon tech or boyesen reeds worth it?

when your wallet is fatter than the pocket you are trying to put it in.

So better off staying with Carbon Tech or Stock; Even on a heavily modified engine? big bore, ported, R&D intake w/ dual 44's, blaster mod pipe, msd enhancer, high compression etc?

Back in the early 2000s when I was racing, all the ported 701s were running carbon techs. Everyone swore by em. You know me, I still run stock reeds! I wouldnt spend the extra cash

I think at this point, you're going to benefit from a new intake system and not just the reeds. Talk to your builder, or dig deeper and keep asking questions on which is best for your set up The Boyesen system has been a proven intake system for a while, but some builders now are saying the php intake system has more bottom end hit. Ask around for a bit and see who has experience with both, or other systems. After this is carbs!! Woooo! It's always something lol!

edit : Other systems.. DASA, Thrust, Xmetal. Probably others to consider too. Food for thought.

that jeff jacobs world finals superjet replica boat i bought, 62 mph dasa 800 pv motor, had an r&d intake manifold with carbon tech reeds ,novi 48s. like an idiot, i put in V2s and noticed no power increase. dont be fooled by other sellers/ builders/ shysters trying to tell you that some other intake/reed system is going to make any noticeable difference over the current setup you are running, except the fact that your wallet IS going to be much thinner. good thing i have high dollar performance parts laying all over the place and it matters not if i waste them by installing them for no gains.

You take that thing to the race at CFW in the spring and show the kids whats up?

thats the drive train i put in that yellow freak and i did take it for a couple hot laps at CFW between V wake runs. since i'm no buoy boy and a -5 freak isnt a race hull, i didnt set any records. i did attract a bunch of attention with that loud MF and a bunch of WTF was thats ? , from the racers.

I noticed a quicker throttle response when I went from 6 year old stocks to new VF2. Worth the cash? Debatable.
(This was on a SXR800 engine)
