It's not they you think they need it more than you. It's that you think the insurance company will just cover your costs. Doesn't work quite like that anymore.

Your insurance can deny your claim for such things. Too many people want their car stolen, leave the keys in the ignition and the door unlocked. When they find your car with no signs of forced entry or hotwire, they refuse the claim.

Mr. Lumpy, you truck has a smart key. How did the thieves start the car? Oh, you left the key on the dash with the door unlocked? I'm sorry, but we're going to deny your claim. You did not take reasonable measures to prevent the theft.

I usually put mine in the frame underneath my truck, or under the bed liner, but I always wonder who is watching. The thing that scares me about keeping it in the ski is if I lost the ski in the surf or something it would just be another headache, I like the idea of hiding my keys so I can let my friends know where they are so if hits the fan they can move or drive my truck.

When I had my Titan I had a lockable bed cover. So I kept a key to the cover on my lanyard (removable from the vest) and the keys and remote stashed in the bed.

If you're comfortable having them in your ski, just epoxy a small Pelican case on the underside your hood. I get that the surf guys don't like that lol...

Could always just buy a Ford with the combination unlock on the door. I'm sure there are many against it though lol.

Locked in the truck......tapped into the keyless entry and have a hidden waterproof switch that opens all the doors....it's schweet!

I have done this at work as a practical joke...its awesome.


best done just before lunch when u ride with someone...they get red-faced and u can give em crap...dood ur losing it...HA!


I have one of these...use it for everything from MX, surfing, concerts...etc...

I also have a spare key zip tied to my truck if I am ever locked out for some reason + my close friends all have a spare key for my truck at their homes just in case..



I would not put it on my ski, NOR in my wetsuit, NOR in my boardshorts

I have a small Pelican box that is clipped onto the rubber strap that holds the gas tank in the ski. It's also where I keep the registration card for the ski.

I thorw them down the front of my wetsuiot if Im in my full suit. My half suit has a pocket on the back that has multiple zippers.

My buddy puts them in a shoe and throws them in the bed of his truck.
