Where's my bottom?

Here's my setup:

6m6 Cases machined for
62T Raider Cylinder
Stock head, milled @ 175 PSI
FPP Limited Chamber
Jetworks Flow Control Valve
Single Carb - size?; 120 pilot, 150 main, 2.5 seat, black spring
Impeller is A/M (can't remember brand/pitch, but felt no change when swapped with stock blaster prop).

Here's my problem -
The pipe is great, hits way harder than with stock pipe, but I'm a little bummed that it really doesn't hit hard until the beginning of mid range RPM. My main goal is smooth strong power from idle to midrange, don't care about topend at all.
Should I be saving pennies for a 61x cylinder, a prop, or what?
Specific advice appreciated. . . .

Is your single 44mm carb off the 6M6 motor? I have read they they are different internally than the other 44's or 46's...
How do you plugs look after a long idle?
What CDI do you have and is the timing advanced at all?

IMO you need a 61x cylinder. I could not stand my 62t.

If you switch cylinders it will hit way harder off idle.

word! i had a 84.5mm ported 62t and it was a turd on the bottom compared to a 81mm 61x ported..it made awesome mid to top but i just couldent get the bottom i wanted even with tl

62t cylinders will give up some bottom end power. They CAN be made to hit hard but take more setup work that has to be spot on all the way down to the pump.
The easier way is to bolt on a stock 61X 701 cylinder...the reason why? A standup Superjet never used any other 701 cylinder on them even up to a '09 Superjet.

You need to simply need to lower your pump load and raise the rev limit. This can be done with a hammer, soldering iron, and a resistor. Thats all it took for me to turn an over ported/over propped dog into an exceptionally strong running ski.

It helps if everything is matched. :bigok:

I was going to mention unloading the pump a little like Kevbo said. Tanner has a 62T in a SN and we got it to hit better at a lower rpm with higher compression but unloading that pump will make quite a bit of difference. Bore the nozzle.

How restrictive are those 6m6 cases? Those are 650 cases aren't they?

I'll back the vote for the Hooker, over/under propped will keep you going in circles and that 9/15 prop seems to work in just about every setup from stock to decent limited.

Sorry to hear you had your 6m6 cases machined for the 62t cylinder. Yes, the 62t cyl. does not favor bottom end due to it's porting but those cases restrict the intake flow. 61x cases are plentiful, seen them as low as $60. They would make noticeable diff.

Unload the pump first that's easy and affordable try it out all you want is lowend hit anyway.
It is like putting 4:56 gear's in a small block it will be impressive off the line but no topend.

Fortunately I didn't pay, it came that way -advertised as a 650. I don't think the guy knew what he had.

*updated first post re carb settings

Sounds like a consensus the 61x cylinder will make a substantial difference?

I'd try something less expensive first.
I have put together a couple of motors with 61X cases and 760 62T cylinders (and a 701 62T), and they had fine bottom end.
I ported them, too, though.
