Where's the best place to buy or have a crank rebuilt?

I replace prob 2 dozen bearings of one sort another. Every. Single. Week.

Koyo have gone DOWNHILL in quality for sure. While albeit better. They are by no means the game changer they used to be. Just use Google with service and repair in mind and you'll see many others agree over the past few years.

You get what you pay for. To a point.

How are they failing? Is it the retainer? Are they getting hot due to lack of clearance?

Getting rolled over exrtremely rough terrain. Grass shoved inside them. Miss a zerk. Lose a zerk. Wear and tear. Decades of sitting. Who knows. Bearings wear pu all he time. I've replaced probably 1000 6205 bearings in my life. Koyo. Nacho. Timken. Rollo. China. Taiwan. Timbuktu.

I've also rebuilt quite a few rear ends in my time. And I've seen koyo bearings lose quality in the pinion bearings also. In only maybe 15 years I've been doing those.

Setup is key on almost everything. Yeah. Hard parts fail. Hard parts should be quality. But what's quality? To me, the person with the highest volume of sales vs warranty/failures. Is the one to go with. Absolutely hands down that would go to sbt. It's like flying. It seems scary. But the chance of you being that 1/100000 people is rare

Okay, I was thinking jet ski specific failures. I have mostly found retainer failures often caused by corrosion. I can’t nail down the exact cause of rod bearing failure since they get too chewed up and burned before the engine stops.

Suggestions on alternates?

They have always been cheaper than 701 cranks. The differences that I can see are 760 rods aren't externally machined and the wear ring is a simple thin sleeve.

Have had great experiences with Chris at C57 with fast turn arounds and good prices. Has always bailed me out of tight spots time wise. Also have had good luck with JM sbt cranks. Imo best option money/reliability (if you don’t trust sbt) is a FB part out junk crank sent out for a rebuild.

Timken and SKF bearings seem to last the longest in my personal experience as of late.

Thanks everyone, I found a place close to me that did cranks for years with quality Japanese parts. Going that direction with my core.
