I am looking at getting another blaster 1 and i am having a hard time choosing between 2 skis. Both skis are the same price but one is stock but really clean and the other to one has a head and a factory pipe but looks dirty and used to be raced. i just want it to ride at the lake, which would you choose?

thats the hard part. i know if i get the stock one i will want to put a pipe on it, but wont really have the money to do it. im kinda leaning towards the stock clean one for reliability issues.

Determine if the cost of the head/pipe is less than the cost of "cleaning" up the dirty ski to make it satisfactory to you.

a good used factory pipe is going to run u 500 dollars or more if u can find one, tough decsion, do a compression test on both just to make sure good luck, a blaster is a nice ski

i checked out the old race ski. he wants $1,200 and i have to install the new steering cable he bought for it. i didnt get to start it yet because it has no battery. he said he hasnt used it in 3 years and he said it will start up but idles real high. it has a factory limited pipe, mrd girdled head, and umi steering. im thinking i will at least need the carbs tuned maybe rebuilt.

sounds like it has $800-$1000 in sellable aftermarket parts.

but the no use in 3 years thing is bothersome.

the "high idle" could be carburetion.... or worse.

tough choice. i would have to see them before giving advice that id consider to be "sound". with that said, if that clean stocker is up and running, it doesnt sound bad if its the same price as the modded one.
