Which book is better, Dixon or Bell?

I want to learn as much as possible about my superjet engine. I found two books

http://www.bevenyoung.com.au/2strokebooks.html

I actually found them cheaper on amazon.com but I don't want to buy both.

Which one is better for a newbie with a pretty good mechanical aptitude but no real engine experience?

I am not familiar with the Dixon book, but I will tell you that Bell is an absolute pain in the ass to read.
He's good on theory, but most of it is generic and doesn't much apply to PWC engines.
Still, not bad.

Call up Randy @ WatCon. He's got a couple excellent, PWC specific books/booklets.

And if you really want Bell, shoot me a PM. :sneaky:

Books

You can never have too many books. Bell, Dixon, Blair, Jennings, and others are all good information. I personally feel the Bell book is the easiest to comprehend, and I recommend it for the above average tuner that wants to learn more. I also offer an "easier to read" intro book called the Jet Ski Bible & Two Stroke Tech, by David Simon.. Some of the listing on my site are no longer available, and I will correct this when I have time.. http://www.watcon.com/manuals.htm

Thanks,
Randy at watcon

GAH!!!! I made a mistake, thanks Randy.

I meant to say that Jennings is a pain in the ass to read, while Bell is very easy to read and easy to understand.

The books contain about 1000 times more info, all in one spot, all by one (per book) author that knows what he's talking about. That's not always the case here.

Book info.

Ditto Matt..

The books allow you to read and absorb the information without somebody else giving you their version.. I must be dumb, because I read the same books over & over again..

Randy
