Well I am buying an 08 sxr and I would like advice on which companies to go with and which products. And anything else you would like to say.

I would like:
Intake Grate
Ride plate
Pump Shoe Seal Kit (I've heard that it's a very good thing to get)

What else should I look to get?

Thanks!

you could get all that stuff from about 100 companies but I would shop around for the cheapest price and the closest to you so you can have it quick .Here's a few quick links

Welcome to the X!!! Is this your first standup? if so, your gonna love it!!!

I personally would skip all 3 of those mods, (unless your gonna race).
Instead for the same money, I would get:

4 or 0 degree UMI Handlebars.
Footholds (Real ones, Go ahead and cut them in, it won't decrease the value of your ski.)
750gph Rulemate Bilge pump (no switch needed)

The SXR allready hooks up wayyyyy better than any other ski out there, so you don't really need any of those mods. (maybe later the pump shoe). Once you get used to the power, mill the head and lighten the flywheel at Group K or LPW.

Right now, don't worry about mods! Just get out and ride the hell out of that ski until it's good and beat up! (You will be too!) Have fun!

Then comes the PIPE!!!!!! (Big power)

This isn't my first ski, well it's my first one that I am going to own. I am 17 and my parents are letting me buy a brand new sxr. My dad and uncle own a kawi 650, kawi 750, and a polaris couch. the 750 has an intake grate and a ride plate and my uncle said something about taking out the water box, the 650 has a pipe and a ride plate.

I do plan on racing a little, not like any big competitions just a little thing here and there.

You say the sxr's intake grate is good enough to leave it be for a while?

It hooks up stock wayyyy better than your uncles 750. I dont care what grate he puts on it. Plus, your gonna blow his doors in, stock.

Leave the waterbox alone...

This ski is 1000 times better than the old ones.

I would do word for word what Korn said. Best SXR I have ever ridden.

Don't be listening to just anyone. Listen to people who ride hard and beat chit up.

I put a 6º ign advancer, grate, pump stuffers and reed spacers from R&D on mine, then cut the stock hull back 4" and the stock pole back 1.5". Made a huge difference. I'm saving for a wet pipe and a prop now, and a shorter pole eventually, you'll love this ski!

You'll lose power removing the waterbox.

If you really MUST get an intake and rideplate, go with TBM.

X2 on the TBM intake. I purchased mine last year and ride it hard every week. Sometimes twice a week. The two best things that I have done are 4 degree handlebars and the TBM intake. It hooks up great with the stock but even better with the TBM. You will love this ski!!

I took my grate off after a while and went back to stock. It is easier to jump without it. Doesn't vacuum to the water so much. :smokin:

SXR in MA: You need some aftermarket bars and footholds!!! :smokin:

I made my own pump stuffers out of silicone, cut my own rideplate, modified my grate to make it more of a "top loader" design

i have a worx single wing intake...i dont remember the number. it helps it hook up and you can still launch with it. just cut your stock ride plate flush with the back of the hull. ride the thing, thats all you should worry about at this time.

I like the worx 201 grate. Not super aggressive, and works well. It is typically considered the least aggressive of the intake grates.

especially if you are going to "do a little racing" as you said. The sxr handles sweet, but the tbm ride and scoop will make it better for racing, without really compromising your freestyle maneuverability. 0 degree bars are a must, but that can wait till this winter. i just bought mine brand new a year ago and rode the piss out of it. no need to add any mods until you put it up for the winter. hell, i'm just now putting footholds in mine. stock=reliable, so enjoy that for at least the first season.

Yep.

But . . .

Screw the warranty. You sure as hell don't want dealership employees working on your ski.
