SX/SXi/SXi Pro Which Factory Wet Pipe?

Location

Hey everyone, I've been lurking here for a while. I'm about to dive in pick up a 96 sxi that has a number of a/m parts. However, I'd like to know which limited factory pipe is on it when I go check the ski out. From what I understand, factory made two types of limited pipes? One being about 6 hp more than the previous version. Does anyone know when this change took place and how/if it is possible to identify which pipe is on the ski? Thanks for any info!

I only know of one factory pipe limited (limited uses a water box and has a center bleed chamber, exhaust exits straight down from the center of the chamber. The other wet pipe is the MOD pipe. It does not use a water box and can be identified by a end bleed chamber, exhaust comes out the right end and runs down next to the carbs.
I got screwed on a eBay deal and bought a mod pipe that was setup like a limited, it sucked running like that. Set it up right and it still didn't hit like the limited I have now.
Good luck and welcome to your new addiction lol.

Ya, it's definitely an addiction. I've been riding skis for about 15 years, but only got into modding the last couple. The reason I'm confused on this pipe is from this article ... http://www.factorypipe.com/art_k750sxi_ltd.php . It seems there was a limited pipe specific for the SX and a different limited pipe for the sxi? Is that correct? Are the pipes interchangeable? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just trying to figure out what the ski has on it.

That's a neat article. From reading it I gathered the only difference was in the design of the throttle cable bracket and the design of the stinger, also the adjustment specs were changed. None are big changes and I'm thinking it would be very unlikely you would see one of the early pipes since they only made it for two years.
