Strange R&D would copy a part off a guy that dont know crap...
Iv never used an R&D, but the TBM is a solid piece. I dont think you can go wrong either way..

I currently running a TBM Pump Cone, (it will come with three separate "end" cones for tuning...I'm using the shorter freestyle cone now) custom impros "hooker" 10-16, and a worx 205 to feed the beast. I've been very happy with the skis ability to put power to the pavement (so to speak), I'm a big guy at 6'4 and 215 and bottom end brap and out of the water launches really improved with this setup. Personally don't think you can go wrong with either, but I'm also running a TBM lightened fly and have been really impressed with their customer service and support (give him a call and he'll treat you right). Also, not sure about the R&D (probably the same), but TBM will work with a standard and large hub (like the "hooker") impeller. This really is a great mod...like a light "magnum" pump.
