which pump

im looking for good low end on my 550 and im unsure if i should use a 440 pump or a 550 pump, over at pwctoday ive been told 440 and 550 so i just wanted to see what you guys thought here

440 would be the bigger of the two ie more low end.

i'm pretty sure the 440 was smaller in diameter than the 550 therefore the 550 would give more bottom end.


i thought that was why racers put 440 pumps on their 550's for more top end.


but i only owned a 440 for about 17 minutes so i may be wrong.

Well, I can't speak much on this topic aside from bigger is not always better when talking about pumps.

550 is a bigger diameter pump and would produce more bottom end...especially since that pump was redesigned specifically for that motor. That being said... I wouldn't sink too much money into a 550.

a 440 pump will work much better overall including bottom end.
loads the engine less.
