Which superjet should I buy?

Well as of right now its a waiting game until tomorrow evening...the 2001 is being held for me until tomorrow evening when I have to give the guy my decision.. I have tried reaching the kid with the 94 SN and I have only been sucessfull in an email and leaving a couple voicemails. If he doesnt answer tomorrow during the day then I will be getting the RN since I really dont want to pass that up...if he does answer and his SN is in good shape, then I will get it.

I also forgot to add that the 01 does come with a shorelandr trailer and blue yamaha cover.

roundnose fo sho. if you get a square , you'll want a round. 2500 is a good deal for that year of a round. get the parts you want. squares are just plain ugly, whoever designed the top deck deserves a kick to the nuts. sorry to those wh may be offended but suva has the only good looking square IMO

That 01 is worth it for 2500 with trailer and cover. I personally would put a new impeller(concord) and a bpipe if you get that one and it will rip.

Thats my main concern...I have not been watching the prices of SJ's much since they were always 5 states away from me anyways. Im the type of person that wont buy something unless its for less than its worth...so I can always sell it and get my money back out and buy something better even if its a year down the road.

I think if I got the SN I would deep down always want a RN, even though they are basically the same ski.

For whoever asked, heres a picture of the RN

I agree that the RN is a good deal but don't let it tap you out. I don't know about your income but if your tapped out you will hate riding that thing stock. it will need an intake grate and impeller right off then footholds. You can swap parts off of the B1's if there is any thing that you need because you won't be riding them anymore...LOL

get the RN. 2500 for the 2001, trailer and cover is a GREAT deal..especially they are not frequent in your area... same market in mass...

if your new to standups.. its gonna take you a bit to get used to riding anyways.. so can always mod it later...

If you have the money get a roundnose. Everyone that I know with a square wants a roundnose but don't have the money. Save some money by skipping the squarenose step b/c it would be a matter of time before you would want a roundnose.

He obviously doesn't know me either! Get the square for that price and already having mods, you won't regret it.

SN all the way.
The RNs looks pig nosed with those "nostrils" in it.
You will have over a grand in left over $$$ which buys a whole lot of premix

I finally got ahold of the guy with the SN..It needs a new start switch and also new matts, but he says overall its in good shape for the year. I am going to look/pick it up tomorrow around noon. He was asking 1500, but I have already got him to say he would take around 1300.

Thanks again for all of your imput and advice. I figure if I get this SN it will leave me with leftover money to buy shoes and gloves, along with footholds and also replace and worn out parts.

in my openion one really nice thing about buying a completly stock ski is you know noone had their hands tearing it apart. some people that do all kinds of mods on their ski's are hacks. you could find stripped nuts and bolts and screws, and end up getting a ski that has been ragged on. my 2c is when you buy something that has been left stock you KNOW what your getting.

thats a VERY valid point.

BUT, the old squarenose boats that I personally have bought, have been built, and together well enough to have endured riding/beating, since the mid 90s.

I say good choice on the square nose.

If you need help with that start/stop switch, give me a shout ( or post here)

ive clean/fixed a few, and those types of problems are pretty common.

if the hull is good, the pump isnt beat to hell, and it runs, its worth $1300, you will never loose money on it.

mats are cheap, the problem you are describing sounds cheap.

take a compression tester, jump the starter to read the engine.

stock should be 150ish.

aftermarket head should be 170 or more.

you can move up to a round whenever you want, but you might find that the square will do what you need for a long time (as I have), and if/when you want to change, you wont loose money on the square boat.

Glad to hear that you are thinking wise about the cash flow. Now don't waste any money on mats because you will have to tear them off to install footholds this winter.

Already thought about all of that. My plans are to teardown, install footholds, get paintjob and then mats. Since its coming up on winter months I will be paying special attention to smaller things and replacing worn out/broken parts along with putting on some aftermarket goodies.

Good news..I got the SN superjet and saved alot of money..Badnews is that the guy failed to mention that the front bumper was covering up alot of damage, and I missed it when I looked underneath at the lower hull. Can this be repaired with fiberglassing?????

The inside is kinda dirty, but it fires right up and runs great. Compression numbers are low so I guess this is going to be a good winter project. As you can see I already started pulling a few things off.

Looks like my front end a few months ago, not too bad to repair.

Here's some before and after shots.
