Which TL do I buy?

Hey guys, Im looking to buy a digital TL system for a project SJ. Does anyone know the difference, Pros/cons, and Price differences between the MSD and Jetinetics set up?

Single channel MSD -TL without a thought. But you need to think about how much salt water riding you do. MSD's run good because they have a lot of spark power, but when used in salt water can be fussy and short out when they get wet with salt water. Proper installation and dielectric grease are a MUST!
If you look at my sig's below...4 out of 6 have MSD-TL's I set-up!

If that's the case get an Advent CDI (you can get them from me) and use stock yamaha 62T stator and flywheel, or if you just want so, so, power... go msd inhancer

Dont mean 2 hijack the thread, but I went thru 2 msd tl in the last week(I must add it was the older pro2) but im in the same boat as Eric C......

Is the new msd a lot better than the new blowsion advent, wax,or others and can one buy just a brain box and wires?

Thanx.

I like my MSD (Pro Digital II). Yes, you can buy just the brain - though I imagine it's ridiculously expensive.

Well ive 2 got pro2,it worx fine outside the hull but once installed it doesnt always pickup correctly(irritating though) but what expensive and where could I get just the brain box if nessecary.....

Thanx Matt E

Your problem is most likely incorrect trigger clearance if it's not "always pickup up correctly".
That's an easy fix (and should have been taken care of during proper installation ;)

Thats the problem spoton! But how do I rectify that? Wev bn installing and checkin everything so slowly so that we dont miss anything....... then error,error.... the subscriber you have dailed is not available and do it all over again....

You need to make sure that the clearance between trigger surface and flywheel surface is 0.045 - 0.095 inches.

Take the flywheel off, put some sticky clay, playdoh, whatever, on the surface of the pickup, reinstall the flywheel (including boiling it and torquing it! , then rotate a few times.
Take it back off, and carefully measure the thickness of the material on the pickup.

My Jetworks battery is good for six-eight hours of riding, with lots of starts, and two bilge pumps.

Hey Chuck why do you recommend the single channel and not the dual channel? I thought the dual channel was better and if the single channel brain takes a crap on you then aren't you poop out of luck?

Same with the dual channel though.

In any even I prefer my dual channel.
