Who can make stuff for others?

Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of launching a small CNC machine shop specializing in custom motorsports components. I've been in the trade for over 10 years and I've been around skis, sleds, bikes, you name it my whole life. Machining is a passion of mine and I cant wait to combine it with my love for skis. Last fall I got my hands on an older 3 axis CNC mill and I spent all winter repairing it and building my shop to accommodate it. I have been messing around testing it out the last few weeks and I am just about ready to start taking in work.

Below are some pictures of things I have designed and machined for my ski in the past. I designed and built a battery box, a custom pole, and my personal favorite, a low profile air intake for lowered hoods. for more info on what I've already built, check out my ski build thread... http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/first-custom-build.174818/

I hope to start producing my own designed parts soon, but I also love to help people turn and idea into reality. I have access to CAD design software and am willing to work with anyone on anything.

My Mill is a full 3 axis CNC with surfacing abilities and roughly a 30"x10"x24" work envelope. I'm in the market for a lathe and hope to be offering turning work soon. Willing to quote any run from 1 part on up.

I can also do modifications to parts. Boring reduction nozzles, removing broken bolts, etc. At this time I am not interested in any motor work. I consider myself an excellent machinist who prides himself on quality, but I don't have any experience porting or anything like that and I don't want to get into that market right now.

I'm offering very fair pricing to anyone in the sport. Call or text (585)880-7952 anytime, email me at ReiberPrecisionMachine@gmail.com, or hit me up on here. I would be happy to answer any questions or quote any project for you guys.

Thanks, Bryan

I have a 3D printer, Lulzbot TAZ 5 and can print really strong ABS parts. Maximum size 11"x11"x11"
Also can do some intricate CAD work, some injection mold design/product design.
My main job is electrical design engineer in construction industry.

You can do a search and find a thread when I 3D printed a RC jet ski. The project never took off because I needed to make it larger and out of composites to enable it to float with the components I chose. I lost interest in it, but it is a testament to my skills with 3D printing and CAD.

@Reiber bored my reduction nozzle. He knows his $hit and does good work. When he gets fully set up, definitly a good source for machine work with very fair rates.

Any of you smart folks design / make a template for the 61x to Kawi 650 exhaust manifold adapter?
For FX-1 cheater pipe.
No one making them anymore.

If I had both I could make a design don’t have those parts anymore. And could do small batch runs if people are interested.

Is it a 2D adapter plate? Look up reed spacers and see if they look similar but would be used to change the bolt pattern.

I am a mechanical engineer looking for a senor design project for the upcoming school year. Idk if this is helpful but if anyone has anything feel free to PM me.

This could be interesting. Maybe start a thread or poll asking what is needed in the industry. How feature rich/complicated does the project need to be? Waxhead on here would be a good place to start asking questions, he has a bit of that engineering gene as well and sells a real nice limited batch of products, plus he loves to share his knowledge and seems to like open source projects like the zeeltronics ignition he recommends. He sort of tries to fill the gaps in the industry with neat things like the billet front fuel system so you can go to internal fill among other things. Here is his website.

Here are some examples of past projects:

i will definitely be reaching out to Waxhead/starting a thread, I had put some thought into doing a jet-ski type project but wasnt really sure what directions could be taken with it, definitely open to suggestions, I have until around the end of september to decide on a project

A hitch hualer beach cart that the ski loads and unloads easily while still on the cart. I have a hitch hauler but I still have to put the beach cart in the bed of my truck. This has been brought up many times but no one has ever actually built one.

Not exactly on topic of the thread but an idea for your project.
