Been talking to different electric motor companies and turns out I am not the only one looking at building an electric standup. :)

There were a few threads about a company trying this a few years back. I don't think their proto made much power/speed. I also seem to recall another company trying to a ball-busting lay down type ski. Will search around to see if I can find any of them.

You could make something pretty awesome for around 10k. As of now I think this is the best all around motor for one.
Liquid cooled, 75ft lbs of torque. @1rpm =)
Weighs around 30ish pounds.

I posted the number in the forth post. :p 75ft/lb torque at 1rpm. Best of all it is repeatable under any conditions! Air temp, water temp, etc does matter. Always 75.

Look what just got delivered today! Brand new leeson 24v 1hp 3600rpm fan cooled motor! One of the most efficient and bad arse motors on the planet. Plan is to run it at 7200 rpms and take my go-kart to 50ish mph with arm yanking torque . Not bad with 100lbs of batteries and 230lb rider. :)

Sadly the biggest down fall with electric. I will be lucky to get 30 minutes if I keep my foot out of it. If I bought a nice controller I could limit the power and get a longer run time, but what fun would that be. :)

Hop. Lift that tray up as high as you can, angle that baby downwards, and hold your breath and PIN IT! Make sure the water's deep enough and keep going until you can't hold your breath any longer. That is exactly what I would use an electric standup for.

I'd use it to get premeditated knocked down to negligent homocide, but your thing sounds fun too.

I'm not against an electric stand up, I just know how much it sucked when I had the battery mounted under the seat of my x2 before I knew about dielectric grease. 12v in the bars is a pretty unenjoyable experience, I could only imagine more voltage.

I've experienced it other times just from water in the hull, but the x2 experience was all the way back to the launch, thank god it was close.
