Custom/Hybrid Who has made their own beach cart

I built mine out of scrap steal & a pair of left over turf mower rims & tires, works great. took some time but has been great so far. best part is it breaks down & fits into my s10 to travel

Hillbilly and QuickMick, those both look great!
WeDoSeadoo, I was at Home Depot the other day and was thinking about the EMT too. I wonder if that stuff rusts if it gets scratched/submerged? I don't know what it is made out of.

The tires that Hillbilly is using work good. I think they are turf savers or turf tamers. The worn out ones work best.

i made mine, by adding 2x4's and a carriage bolt to a garden cart i bought at home depot/lowes..

the car was 75 bucks...rated for 1000lbs...

i used it for about a year and half, and its held up ok, though now i have a big foot cart and its much better..

for a short term solution it wasnt bad, i wished i found one a bit wider, but it never tipped on me.. i was able to wheel this from the house to the beach no problems... (if the sand was really soft, sometimes i needed a hand to push it out.

the cart actually lined up with the trailer perfectly, so that helped.. in this pic the ski is further back than i usually have it...

I was thinking the other day about making one out of large EMT conduit, with a long enough piece it could all be bent out of one piece with a tubing bender, drill a hole for the axle add wheels,a piece in the center with all thread through it and go.

What is EMT I have made a stand and my friend made his cart out of Electrical Aluminum conduit

I made this exact same thing. It was really easy and works great for me since I rarely pull it through soft sand. It is kinda tough to pull through sand, but possible if I air down the tires and have a buddy.

My biggest problem is the soft sand. I really need to get some fat, smooth tires. Right now i use the lowes/home depot replacement front tractor tires. I will see if i have some old wheelbarrow tires to try in a week or two. Keep the pics coming.

I forgot!
i have yet to use mine on deep soft sand but i have used someone elses at ipperwash beach which does have some soft sand and the tires work great. i have pushed a wheelbarrel full of concrete many many many time over all types of terrain and clear 3/4 inch gravel tends to be the toughest because it is so loose, we just let the pressure out of the tires a bit and the float over it instead of cutting into it. who would have thought so much engineering goes into a wheelbarrel tire.

Wheel barrow tires are definitely the way to go if you ask me. The one my brother made was as basic as can be. Two inflatable wheel barrow tires that were strapped to a basic wooden frame. It is basically two 2x6 pieces of wood about 3 feet long stood on their sides to cradle the jetski. Those pieces were braced against another piece of 2x6 about 1.5 feet long going width ways..... making an 'H' pattern. Then a solid steel axle was attached to the bottom of the 2x6 spanning the width. The wheel slide on either end of the axle and are held on by a couple pins so they are easily removable.

His doesn't have a handle on it, but the jetski basically balances on it. Move the cart slightly to the front so it's a little back heavy, and we pick up the back and drag it on the wheels.

I'll see if I can find a picture of it.
