who makes the best sxr crank

I had a failure like that in a stocker in 03'. The pc below the transfer broke and fell into the bottom, then the crank has no where to go. It happened on some 03' motor's...As for cranks...In a setup like you had you also should of had your crank snap ringed to prevent walking back and forth. However, your pc I'm refering to is what probably caused your damage. I've seen cylinders for sale with that chip out of them or cracked. Just search SXR cylinders forsale and you will find them.

As for cranks 99% of every ProSki SXR on the line before 2 years ago had an OEM crank True/Welded some with new pins some straight OEM. Some had kawasaki race rods (Team Kawasaki and a few others) to prevent rod stretch in the top hole:trink26:

I've had all of the cranks listed and the OEM true/welded by crankworks with the Koyo bearings lasted many hours with 7700 rpms. These setups were without DETONATION and snap ringed cases. Deto is a killer on EVERYTHING

I fought against detonation during a long time.
Thanks to steve Webster that helped me to get the correct squish setup with my wetpiped superstock.

As for my engine failure, I can't see which event caused the damage.
Does it start with the front end bearing failure ? Or with the sleeve broke.

I saw some SS engines with that mod (my old SS cylinder was a zapata port job) :

I think this mod is usefull to avoid the low end sleeve failure.

Do you have picture of a snap ringed cranck ? I can't translate this properly ;)

Thanks

Seb

Steve can have cases snapped. THe snap rings go between the front bearing and the seal like the ring around the bearing in the center. Same for the rear, behind the bearing just in front of the rear seal. The cases have to be machined with grooves for these rings.

Dont have any pics and my motors are together. Nothing fancy just grooves

I haven't had my 800 engine apart but don't the 650 Kawies have that done? Makes me wonder why they wouldn't do the same thing to an 800. Now that I think about it, I have seen some with the snap ring and some with the locating pin.
