Who re-pitches there own impellers w/ Jettlab gauge?

Any tips or tricks? I am looking at buying a set of Jettlabs pitch gauges and want to lower the pitch of my hooker. Is it as simple as putting the impeller in a vise and bending the blades with a crescent wrench until they line up with the pitch gauge?

Yes, but you need to understand what your bending, trailing edge or leading edge. You only bend the last couple of inches and you will need a good jig to hold the prop tight, a vice isn't going to cut it.. I made one with a 1/2" thick plate and welded it to an old receiver so I could slip it into my truck hitch. The crescent wrench needs to be about 2' long. Do a search on Green Hulk, there are a few good threads on how to do it.

Its about as easy as it gets but you have to have a pitch guage because it takes a few trys on and off the vise to get it even on all 3 blades.

Reading this thread it looks like you bend it up to 2-2.5" from the end of the blade. Anyone bend a hooker have any input on how far up the blade should be bent?

@DAG How many hookers do you have lying around your garage? Can you take some photos of say a 9/15, 10/16, and 11/17. So noobs like me can see exactly where the pitch of a hooker should be and how far up the blade it goes? If we could get enough people with gauges doing that I think it would make it easier to visually see if you bent your "x brand" impeller correctly or not.

Once you know how to pitch props you don't need to have a bunch of extra props laying around

I put my impeller in a press too hold it Down, have repitch a couple off times with Great success

Above video is OK.... Only thing I would add is to measure blades using a machinists rule to make sure ALL blades are identically matched. Check with pitch gauges as well.

Any benefit to these 130$ gauges vs the jettlab 30$ gauges?

Ease of use.

with the Watcon or Torrent (Fast Elements) you just drop the blade inside it on a flat surface. with the Jet lab you have to use a paper clip or tape it together. A little more clumbersom but works.

Seems worth the extra 100$ to not have to use a paperclip.

Nice thing about jettlabs is that you only tape it together once, unless you switch prop sizes. Upgrading pumps? No need to purchase another 130 dollar gauge, just untape and retape.

Anchor prop down, bend blades.... its not rocket science. Just keep in mind you can only bend it so far before you will loose tolerance.

Got the Jettlab gauges, now just need to find the motivation to remove the pump and impeller. =/
