I am running one with my SS865 and b-pipe. I use the standard red FCV with just the spring and ball, no washers.

That's what I have been running. I adjusted the top screw of the b pipe and the box got waaayyyy hot.

I cleaned the control valve but haven't re tested. I feel like I get too much water in the box. Its seems to take a lot to clear it out.

That's funny, I feel like mine is always cleared out. If it gets hot, it's never been enough to notice.

Do you run single or dual cooling?

After cleaning the flow control valve it didn't overheat the waterbox.
Now I need to figure out why at slow speeds it seems like the box is full of water and needs to be cleared out.
I have to make a few hard runs/ blasts to clear it out then I get the low end punch back. It is a very noticeable sound change when the box is cleared. I am wondering if it may be a crack in the head pipe that allows it to flood the box.
First I guess I will try to close the top screw a touch more.

Pull your head pipe and pressure test it. Take you about 5 minutes. hook water up to one fitting, plug the other. see how much water comes out of the pin holes at the screw adjusters.

Well I just finished the pressure test. The middle and bottom didn't leak. The top was squirting somewhat of a stream. Not like I was kinda hoping for. I adjusted it to a spray pattern.

I do not know what kind of pressure the cooling system produces . I have maybe 40-50 psi at the RV park. I figure I will try it at the house and see if it changes. I have a gauge I can see what the city water is rated.

At least I can port the head pipe now. For some reason I didn't when I bought it.

Alright,
Hooked it to city water and found it was cracked! Damn.
Luckily I guess, it was on the outside. Local guy welded it up on the spot for 25 bucks and as of right now no leaks.

Water testing this weekend and playing with the top screw. I am not sure that the crack would have had any effect on my issue and how long it was cracked. All I do know is the motor previous to this one did not have any issues (other than eating cranks) and I didn't change anything as far as the amount of water to the pipe or box.

totally depends on the severity of the crack,if it was large and on the bottom where you couldnt see it and it was causing a pressure drop in the headpipe, that would cause a major diff in the performance, another reason why your water box would be running really hot as well, post this and your findings in the thread I linked here, just one more thing to look for when tuning a bpipe, and another great reason to test on a water hose

Finally taking advantage of a nice weekend.
Seems to be not filling the box with water. Turned it a bit more in to see if it would remedy the slight "something" when you nail it trombone almost idle. The result was a hot water box. Just took out the ball in the control valve.

On another note, going to get another water box. My buddy tom was a mile away fishing and heard me!

What a difference in decibels with the ball removed from the control valve. Didn't load up with water either.

Now I think I will try and figure out the other problem. I will either record it with my phone or charge the go pro for this one. I have changed and cleaned everything possible trying to solve the "?".
Its not a cavitation nor hesitation ie carb related. I emailed art with Jetworks to make sure that the carb settings were right. May just live with it until I send the motor off for a refresh. Nobody is on the lake anyway

Played with it little this afternoon.
Same thing. Best way for me to describe it is splatter. Instead of the normal ringing sound , its a splattering ringing tone. Almost breaking up.
Did notice turning HARd left it bogs. Remember reading about that somewhere .
