Who's got an XMetal waterbox?

Run it out the back only if you dont want it to be loud.

You do ride flatwater though, so you probably want the front outlet as well.... I dont think it will be to loud though......

you ever rode with some Cracker name Bronson??? I think he has the XMW box front only. :headbang: Its not as anoying as Idoks boat, and he runs the dual.

I dont think you will notice much of a power difference....... but you will notice the weight difference for shizzle! :woot:

I have just installed one, it is a lot louder than stock, but saying that at the same time that i installed the water box i also installed a front exhaust. I live on a small island and use my ski in the sea and already people have been asking whats inside the ski as it is so loud.

Not sure about any power increase.

I like my xmetal water box... its got a nice gurgle, and if its out the front and back, it splits the exhaust pressure and has a lower beefer tone...
As for performance, I cant tell... alot lighter...
I love it the deep tone gurgle !

I had one in mine and traded it back for a stocker. Loved the sound but I've got a serious problem with my ski taking on waaay too much water when it floats upside down. I don't trust the baffles or lack thereof, not that that's my only problem :banghead:.

That's how I'm running one on my WCF ski.

Huge difference in weight when compared to a stock aluminum for a round.

It is considerably louder than most others, but not as loud as a TDR!

you guys really noticed a weight diff? that alone would seal the deal for me.

Yep. No doubt whatsoever.

I can weigh a stocker with a tee welded on it to an X-metal for comparison if you'd like. I believe Pat mentioned something about a ten pound difference in weight if you consider the weight of the water in the box into the equation.

I ran on on my squarenose out the front only. sounds fine out just one outlet. 2 outlets just decrease your back pressure and make it sound like a$$ IMO. To much popping and cracking. Design wise there is allot of room for improvement considering what you pay for that setup. He does have a new one out that is different and I may check that out as well.

yeah, ive held them both in my hand, i agree the x is lighter.

i guess i'm looking for more feedback like:

1) yeah the boat feels lighter with it ...or not..
2) yeah i felt a performance increase with it ..or not..
3) yeah, it felt lighter, ran great, but was way too loud for my taste..
..etc.

i know i personally can't stand the TDR waterbox sound and would never run one, but other people love them.

X-metal sounds like a flowmaster in comaprison. Nice low frequency rumble and only slighly louder than stock (if only running it out the back). Dual outlets make it annyoing..but some people like it that way

I believe that.... I weighed the stocker, and the XMW..... about a 4lb difference... dry!

I've ridden my ski and a nearly identical ski which had no porting and a stock waterbox many times and I noticed about zero difference except noise. I think the weight thing goes to people's heads when you start nickel and diming it. Maybe it matters more for flats :dunno:

I didn't really notice a performance difference either........but I like to run my boxes pretty dry. If you like a wet box and notice a perforamnce difference I would be more inclined to attribute that to the fact that the x-metal box holds less water so you would get the same effect if you ran a FCV and restrictor on your stinger.

Just ride
did you guys see his bulletin? they changed the box some so it's quieter now and suppose to have a power increase and suppose to sound deeper. I got the first one so when my ski goes together I will let you know. I have to say it is really light, it's hard to tell the difference between a turnplate in one hand and the box in the other.

You know Pancakers ski sounds fine. It's not too loud and he has a front exhaust, it sounds good to me.

I just bought the new XMW type (arrived yesterday) with nice camo HT covering!! - fitting it tomorrow and will try it at the W/E - I have all the usual mods + porting and a side exhaust - I intend to take a ballon/gaffer tape and a cable tie to block of the side exhaust so I can compare noise levels.
