I have a new skat freeride 13-17 on the way. Has anybody played around with the cones on this impeller? I have a wetwolf freestyle cone bolted on my pump right now and it worked well with a higher pitch.Should I just run the stock cone? I dont want my ski to fall on its face while I'm chasing the cruisers down. Whats everybody else running for a cone?

Use the WW cone, I think you'll be fine. I am running a 13/18 swirl with a WW cone without any sort of trouble.

either run the cone or bored nozzle, some have had good results with both, but I think it depends on pitch for both to work................ I tried and I lost bottom end, so put stock cone back on.

I had same results on my sons boat but opted to keep the cone and run stock nosel. I am not coninced yet that either is really needed, but my sons says he likes better w/ ww cone.
Knowing your power plant would help here too.

hmmmmmmmm, I think it is a 13-17, have not had it off in a while.......

The Solas tool is better.......... Not knocking it, you got to remember, Dave tweaks most of the props he sells, so a Solas from him may work better than a Solas out of the box.

Oh yeah, what pitch Kahuna, and how's the top end speed?

I'm running a 12/17 Freeride Swirl and it's got awesome bottom end hit, pretty good midrange pull, and average top end. The top end definitely isn't anything to write home about.

When Harrison told me about that lag you feel with a Concord compared to a Swirl I honestly thought I would never be able to notice it, but after riding numerous identical boats with Swirls and Concords I definitely noticed a difference.

Now if I had the extra money I probably would have bought it from Impros and had it cutback, but I was on a pretty tight budget so I shopped around and found it new for $200 shipped.

Same here. I ran a 13/16 Concord with the special Impros finish, and cutback 3mm.

Then I tried out a Swirl 13/18 - instantly noticable difference.

You coming to the Freeride Sunday Fly? If so maybe we can swap skis so I can check out your prop.

I wish bro. Next week is the week before Spring Break so I'm loaded up with school work and studying for exams this weekend.:banghead: If I make it over to that coast over Spring Break then you can definitely ride it.

If I told you, I would have to kill you:biggthumpup: Lets just say that I am doing some minor upgrades on the sqaure.:sneaky: I will probably try both cones but I just wanted to see what everyone else was running.

I have the same one but not cutback yet on my SJ and love it. I never had a Solas Concord on A SJ, but had one on my Stock class XP racer and it also had that initial lag, but for racing that little slippage lag didnt matter. It worked great for racing.
I cant wait to try mine cutback!

Its funny how the masses were all using Concords and now their switching to Swirls. I'll bet the price of used concords will go down eventually.

You would think so. I think it's crazy when I see Concords go for more than $200 used. It doesn't make any sense to me. :dunno: I guess some people just see used Concord and think it has to be cheaper than buying new so they immediately call dibs without shopping around for one new.

Like I said I got mine new for $200 shipped and I've heard of people getting better deals than that. Granted mine isn't cutback, but thats something I can always do down the road.

Well there you go. When someone sells a like-new Concord that is cutback and has special finish on it, plus cone and tool, it is easily worth more than 200 precisely because those mods/addons cost quite a bit of money.

That said, I bought my two Swirls for 85 and 120, respectively. The one for 85 was brand-new.
:haha:
