Why did yamaha ditch the FX-1?

love me a fx1

In Watkins recent interview for one of the PWC online mags, he said he really didn't have anything to do with the development of the FX1, and it was really Rippenkroger who was involved.

I had always thought it was Watkins until I read his own words.

I thought I remember reading in Splash where they interviewed him about the Fx1.

Watkins had just got to Yamaha when the FX-1 came out. He led the GPR project to pull them out of the waveraider mistake.

That may explain the use of a 440 pump.

Knew the answer to #1,Scott Watkins,Smoothest Old School Freestyler.....PERIOD
Bought mine new in May 1994 for NZ$12000,putting it back in the water as we speak, spent NZ$5000 so far this year,BTW I'm 52 and I don't like the big boats ,had a superjet but sold it,boring.
Now there are some aftermarket hulls coming out that may be,just maybe a good alternative to the FX1.Don't shoot me,but the Rickter edge has captured my attention

Any thoughts?
Are you in Auckland?

I love my FX1. It is straight out fun to ride it puts a smile on my face the instant I get on it . It slips , slides and wiggles all over the place. It moves will no body weight but your thoughts so for me there is no looking around at the sites or thinking about going some where but just in the moment in hitting the gas to the rev limiter throwing it into a spin sliding it backwards, jumping over the white water to play chicken with the beach in 2 to 3 inches water . Carving around and out with a smile your face as we all ride for the fun that riding a pole ski gives us in many different ways.
