Small world lol! That hull that was first owned by Dustin272, then the Buzzard, my son picked up almost 2 years ago. It did come apart on him, but the clinic fixed it up very well and he (my son) beat it pretty hard. Many failed rolls and flips. Jr gave his new glass Hurricane some extra love on the failed roll side to help out.
I had a -5 carbon superfreak and a buddy had a bg3 carbon. I took it for a spin and instantly fell in love. It just worked for me... Fit my riding style more than the freak did. They are both amazing hulls in their own right I think. And as the Buzzard can attest, the freak can really take a beating.
The freak is a boat wake chasing beast as the Buzzard said. And others love it for flat too. I loved it for boat wake chasing, due to its ridiculous stability. But I weigh 165, so I skip around a bit and unhook the pump on turns.
The bg3 is narrower in the back and keeps the pump hooked better for me, my weight and riding style. That being said, when I first rode one, it felt very tippy. But I figured that out real fast. (figure 8's will dial you in pretty quick) I literally rode my buddies bg3 for maybe 10 minutes and went bigger on all the tricks I tried. When I got back to the shore, my wife literally said, "WTF!?" Then she laughed at me and asked why I rode the bg3 better than my freak. Well... It just fits my riding style. It's not the greatest boat chaser though lolol!! It gets it done, but I got kicked around a bit doing it, while my sons bg2 carbon was a badass boat chasing beast. Go figure! His was planted at speed and mine was porpoising.
Anyways... We've both been happy with the bobs and switched up to glass Hurricanes.
