Why do aftermarket hoods suck?

Flash-FX

No Square..No Round..FX-1
Here's what I'm thinking.

I hate to see peoples with water (goofy hood venting) intrusion problems. Maybe I'm just lucky with being a FX guy...but every time I look at a Superjet hood...I scratch my head. Why so complicated? The extra layer for ascetics? What about function? They really look cool, but for what? extra water?
Did you ever see the underside of a FX-1 hood? Simple, a center divider (fire extinguisher recess) and 2 crossing tubes. The upper portion of the tube(s) almost touches the inside of the hood (the top), on the other end that recesses into the engine compartment, is angle cut off at the height at about the top of the flywheel.
SuperJett drew a similar illustration, the difference is the tube crossing is below the liner.

Below is a bottom side view of my hood. I re-used the stock tubes because it's hard to improve on something that works.

I agree I would trade my aftermarket for a stock one if I had a paint job that could be matched. I will get this solved.

I didn't get a picture of the tubes I cant find them at the present time. I have too many skis apart in the garage and I had a 2 year old running around throwing a ball. I will be by there tomorrow.

my wdk hood is already seperating from the liner. looks like no prep work was done so it didnt stick. i can, and will, make it bulletproof

looking at it,I dont really see that much much room inside the hood to cross the tubes over, unless they are pretty small tubes

I did find out that my hood seal leaks a tiny bit but that isn't where all the water comes in.

I can get my hands inside the hood. A 3 inch tube flattened a bit would fit in side the hood. I just have to find the 3 inch tube that will handle that kind of bend.

wilkey,we need to get some of that ridged vac hose and rerun ours close to the top edge of hood and all the way down past the center of the flywheel, then zip tie them together,I have a feeling its going to be PITA to get the hood back on quick, but at least the ski wont sink when it rolls over and gets away for a few secs in the surf

gonna also try blocking off the x metal dual pole breathers,I think the 2 main hood vents is adequate air,We are running dual 38s,the 2 air tubes are bigger diameter than the carbs, only need as much air as the carbs can pull, exess is just a waste and more water coming in when the ski flips over
