agreed. A loan on a toy is a poor choice.
I would never buy a hull I could not ride first.
I would also agree the economy has something to do with it. mostly people that are living beyond there means are the most effected by the economy.

In short there are many reasons for the hulls not selling.
I think all of the reason in this thread have an effected on new and used hull sales. And these high dollar skis are a liability at best, defiantly not an asset.

there is a big difference between being able to pay for something and being able to afford it.
thats just my thoughts on the OP question.

There are very few of us who can go drop $6000.00 cash on a Superjet or SXR. We have financed all 3 of the PWC's that we have bought (Blaster2, Superjet & SXR) and paid off early.

Riding a a/m hull first deff helps ya know if its for you or not.I rode some that were great for me and some deff not so great.Tem is super cool guy and had his stuff avail for demo all weekend.
Josh and lucus have some sick flatwater setups, few of us junkies went over to the lake fri with them, and even though its not really our thing, got rides on them, yes Josh that really is priceless to watch! Thanks to both you guys for the rides. My luck with getting to ride the surf boat setup,at tona was terrible though, missed it by something diff everyday.broke pole, whales, lightning.

lotta good reasons in this thread why used ones dont sell, price is #1 second is,Fad one yr,fleeting to a flop by the next,The sj is a staple to freeride no matter what. "Most" of us dont want a trendy hull we want a timeless hull that is really superior in the surf. We are primary surf guys and the sj hull does work well, you just cant argue how capable they really are watching guys like ross and taylor on their old sj skis. But when a guy like tem starts making a hull around surfboard tech and approaching it from a whole new prospective, for what alot of us are doing, then my interest is peaked again,id like to see some of the west coast pros rip these for a while in more consistent surf myself.we certainly learned alot about the bob from that kinda testing

I look at it this way, what am I going to get out of a 4-6 grand hull that my stock hull can't do? A back flip, is a back flip on a stand up jet ski worth all that money? "Not to me" Could I afford a new hull? "yes" would I spend money on a jet ski hull that I am going to beat the hell out of? "no"........ Would I take a loan out on a play toy? (Hell no not Clark smart")

I think Tem has a few orders after Daytona, so people are buying new for sure....

I just order a glass version to build a surf ski... Once you ride a A/M hull that fits u, its down hill...

While we dont offer financing and i dont really think it is a god idea is the main reason why . WE do offer free demo rides on all the hulls we sell and engine packages if available at the time.
So fly down to sunny south south florida for a test ride before you buy .

Who would borrow money to buy a toy ? If you can't afford it don't buy it

Finance is how the whole boat and PWC industry went from something that an individual had to build to a commodity. There is still no information on A/M hulls other than weight and hype. They are all over priced for what you get considering that there is no technology, only materials and labor. They are marketed the the same way that a bottle of shampoo would pushed to a teenage girl. Some of these hulls are overcoming the shortfalls of stock hulls but those technical points are not being discussed. I bet anything would sell as long as it had carbon on it and some popular rider endorsed it. Would it be better for the customer? Who cares, Im getting paid.

i dont think they are that over priced , look at a brand new SJ now make a list of all the parts you add to make it how you want ? it adds up really fast .

i brought a complete XSR off RRP with a 950 way under the cost of what it would take to build it or get my SJ even close to that spec but it would still be a modded SJ .
