I spent a few hours doing a basic pump blueprinting and assembly today. Impeller is an old Skat 9/17 that I cut a radius on and repitched to 11/15.5. I'm hoping it will work out great.

........Almost done! Shot some fogging oil down the carb and popped it off today!! My wife still needs to put sealant around all the turf seams, and we need to add the decals we had custom made. Maybe some tray time next week!

Latest activity on this................RE-reupholster the pole pad. YEP, she just didn't think the silver vinyl was jiving with the paint job. Now it's 'marbled' white, like the paint. Also we got a couple of the custom decals applied.

Well.........we finally put it in the water!! The first startup was very uneventful. It started up and sounded normal and I had to turn the idle speed up a little. Second startup was recorded, here's the vid. The rolled up aluminum mesh I shoved into the waterbox seems to have worked out great! Then we put it in the water.........and it floated! I DID find a bit of weepage at the top right of the midshaft housing and will need to address that. It was very small and it didn't keep us from riding it around some and breaking it in. The pump and impeller seem to be just what my wife wanted. It has PLENTY of low end thrust and will just yank you up out of the water. In fact.... I was throttling up to speed and had to adjust my stance. My finger slipped over and off the throttle and it slowed down so fast I sort of fell UP and OVER the pole! The bars were in my stomach but I managed to grab the throttle again and ride it out. I noticed at a low speed plane the hull seems to chine walk......just sort of rocks left and right. Is this a squarenose thing or is this Westcoast extended ride plate causing it?

How did you do the nose on this? Was it just filled in with foam and glassed over?
Yes, filled with foam and shaped. I used PVC conduit set in the foam to build the "ears". I wanted a finished look but you still need access to the pole pivot bolt! Then foam was coated with epoxy resin, then glassed over and finished.
Here's a rough-in pic for ya.
