Will a hull builder discount a hull to help one of our own?

I don't know how well this will be received, but I thought I would throw this out there. I came across this thread (http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/freestyle-factory-backie-chan.161902/) about one of our community members getting ripped off. I don't know SmittySX, we have never met, and we haven't really even conversed directly on here much. He also has no idea that I am posting this. I know getting ripped off happens to lots of people on here and we cant always make things right, but this time it really struck a chord with me. What if we all banded together to help out this one time? Here we have a guy who took a chance on a small startup company, and whether or not it was his intention, him supporting the small guy was contributing to growing our sport. In the end he lost the gamble.

I remember being amazed at how Rage composites stepped up to help another member on here replace his lost hull and how the whole community stepped up to help replace his lost parts. I think in this situation replacing a hull would be a much smaller undertaking than was done in that scenario.

Here is my question. Are there any hull builders on here who would be willing to discount a hull or sell one at cost to help this guy out, and if so, would the rest of this community be willing to chip in a few bucks towards funding it? On the slim chance that we raise more than what's needed I would like the extra money to go the hull builder as a bigger thank you for being willing to give up some profits. I would suggest that the fund be set up by the hull builder. Its not that I don't trust that smitty would put all the money towards what its donated for its just that I think more people would give if it went directly to the hull builder. But hey, if you guys want to do this a different way just make suggestions.

I'm just throwing this out there. Before any cash is given, lets see if any builders are able to help.

While this is indeed a noble gesture of you, he already has a visual carbon circus....so he isnt hurting for a hull like some other guys have been who lost the only thing they had to ride. It sucks to say, but sometimes you buy a lemon and have to deal with it. However, if a builder steps up and gives him a deal, kudos to them.

haha I didn't know that. guess that proves we aren't friends lol. That doesnt mean that he didnt make sacrifices to get that circus. I'd still be willing to throw cash towards replacing his lemon. a 4K dollar rip off hurts no matter who its done to. small amounts in large quantities could fix this.

Holy crap. Wet Dreams, you've left me mind blown. Its incredible to me that a stranger would go out of their way to do something so generous like this. I seriously feel like an enormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders by coming out with this.
As Mr. Jones has stated, yes, i do have a circus. After waiting so long for to be burned on this chan i decided to sell most of my toys and purchase my dream ski. I work away from home 8 months out of the year. I cant afford to receive junk hulls as my time on the water is more limited than most between winter and being away for work.
I played my cards right and have been blessed to be where im at now. I am by NO means wealthy. As far as donations go, i do not think that is necessary. It is generous beyond my imagination but i wouldnt feel right taking any sort of money from anyone. I would much rather give my money to a different hull builder.
I posted my review to let people know how i was treated and what i got. I was not fishing for hand outs.

Wet Dreams, seriously, thank you.

No problem. I know you weren't fishing for hand outs. I was just so pissed off at the whole situation I figured, hell lets do something about it. I thought maybe we could band together as a community to help you out. I remember it was exciting to see things come together for the guy that lost his hull in Canada and how good it felt to be a part of making that happen, even if it was a really small part. This community is one of the most generous communities I have ever been apart of. Seriously, this group is more giving than my local church. Still if any hull builders want to move forward with this I say we make it happen.

He doesnt need a plane ticket, hes driving distance. Helping a local to me rider when he lost his ski on his first ride out was very inspiring, as he put everything he had into it before it was lost, being his only ski. Its so awesome to see all of the different posts of everyone fighting to keep this sport the close knit, family and group of friendly people that its grown to be. Its unfortunate what happened to Matt, being the tester sucks, but having faith in little shops is how big brands start. I hope people dont loose faith in new hulls from small shops, theres lots who know what their doing. The Chan hull could be a very good option if a better buyer who knows what their doing would get it together. I hate seeing what Matt went through as i wouldnt want to be there, and the chan hull was on my radar as my first AM.

I considered a Chan and actually messaged ff on Facebook and asked if I could get a hull in two pieces and assemble it myslelf and do what I wanted. They said no due to having their name on it and not wanting a liability of me putting it together and giving their company a bad name in the event I do it wrong. In this case, sounds like a monkey could have done better...

they were probably more concerned with not being able to hide their fuc up's selling it straight out of the mold.
