I was running my x2 with a superjet waterbox and a rear exhaust out the right. I liked it much better than stock. Trying some different things riht now but rear exhaust is where it is at.

Rear exhaust is the only thing I didn't do to my X2. I left it coming straight out the waterbox. Rear exhaust would have been nice just for the noise factor

As a result I read this and decided to post a follow up incase I hadn't posted it elsewhere. Doesn't appear I ever followed up here.
I don't think rear exhaust had anything to do with my performance.The problem I have found with the stock waterbox is that it stays full of water. I spent years chasing water ingestion from the carb side and I think this was wrong because NOTHING ever fixed it. I don't think that the low end performance of my X2 and my constant water ingestion in the surf was caused by the hood or airbox, or anything else on that side of the motor.
I think the water comes in from the exhaust side. There is no high point, so the waterbox just stays full. Even the top half of the box is usually full of water. The chamber is also almost always full of water as a result. Likely the poor low end performance of my X2 compared to my SXR was more caused by too much back pressure in the pipe from so much water in it more so than any other tuning issue. Because I spent a huge amount of time on everything else. I even made a custom larger waterbox with the stock flow path, and nothing I ever did came close to the performance of my rear exhaust hull. Problem was that hull was a custom hood design and let too much water in so I abandoned it and started over.
I haven't been riding so I haven't tried anything new, but I really think (speculate) I have a good and easy solution for X2 problem. Install a Superjet style waterbox. I'd really like to try the
@JetManiac box because it uses the stock superjet path with less space. I did spend some time looking at (not working on) my X2 and I have come to realize there is enough room to route an exhaust hose over the gas tank on the right side, over the battery with a front exhaust between the battery and the carbs. This is an easy test for anyone with a working X2 willing to buy a superjet waterbox and a blaster exhaust outlet, as the blaster exhaust outlet it round, it can be rotated to point up over the battery.
Every other ski out there the water flows left to right. On the X2 it flows left to pipe. Tail stand or lean too hard in any condition and the water runs right into the pipe and back into the motor. Simply a high spot and right dump would probably have been all I needed to resolve everything, and I already had the SJ box and B1 outlet on hand. Such a shame I spent so much time on the other side of the motor.
