Blaster "Winterizing" Q

New to the ski world and this will be my first winter owning one. I plan to build my ski up over the winter. So i was going to pull the motor.

Consider the ski to be in "heated storage" over the winter months bc it will be inside my house to work on/prep.

Question is.....do i need to do any preventative maintenance to the motor while it patiently waits to get fired up come next year? Like i said it will be in heated storage.

Not doing any motor work to it. Focusing on hull repair, paint, seat, and cosmetic upgrades.

The only thing I do to mine is disconnect the battery and put the cover on the ski and say see you in a couple months. Lol

Since you are pulling the motor, there really isn't anything to do.
I would maybe remove the spark plugs to eliminate condensation inside the motor, but pulling the exhaust off already does that.

Same here
I just make sure to start it up and rev it up a few times to get a majority of the water out.
As long as its not completely full of water your good to go

Thanks guys. Water was really my only concern.

.....so run her for about 10 seconds or so to clear what water is left in there

dump some oil down the plug holes, turn the motor over by hand a few times, this way everything has a nice coat of oil on them.

That would be my reco as well. Drip some oil or spray some fogger in there, and turn. Disconnect, store with towels or plugs in all of the inlet/outlets to prevent bugs, critters, and random metal floating around your shop from making a home of it.

If your bringing it in the house the exhaust has to be off so water shouldnt be much of an issue I would still get some oil in it before I dissembled it.

Definitely Fog it. The key to maintaining is fogging your engine. I fog after every ride just my opinion ! Another good tip is tilting the trailer and ski at the 1-2 O' Clocl position and blow out all the Excess water that lingers.

Absolutely crucial imo. I don't ride surf, but water is water. Its not just the salt you have to worry about. We use Marvel Mystery oil in our kart engines, fogger in the skis.

Fog it is the best way to go. Fog through the carbs while still running until it dies then spray into cylinders and then turn over a few times.

I thought I was the only one that does it like that.
Don't be shy with the fogging oil.

I do that but with my mix oil.
