FX-1 Winterizing

So how do I do this to my FX-1? I'm assuming you fog it, stabil in gas, but where do I put in the anitfreeze? I don't even know where the hose for flushing is so any help would be great:Eyecrazy:

I use a 12 volt 40 psi garden sprayer pump hooked to a 5 gallon bucket. I have a garden hose running off of one side. Hook that to the hose that enters the exhaust manifold on the bottom. It should be on the left side of the drive shaft through the bulk head. Start the ski and make sure it will run (with the fuel switch on). Then when you get everything ready (pump and fogging oil). Turn the fuel off to the carb and start the motor and the aintifreeze pump. Let it run while fogging the motor until it is almost out of fuel then turn the pump off and give it the last few revs to clean the extra water out of the exhaust and finish running it out of fuel.

Then I spray a bit of fogging oil in the cylinders and crank it over. That is how I do it and have done tons of them like that for years. If you are going to store it for years then don't run the carb out of fuel. The gaskets will dry up.

Lex, I assume you live in Dallas. If you store your ski in the garage, there really is no need for antifreeze. Even outdoors, there's maybe 12 days total the temps go below freezing.

Just make sure you remove as much water from the ski (engine and waterbox) and fog the engine and carbs.

Watch the battery, at least monthly, which I am sure yours in new. Disconnect the battery when not in use, and charge when low.

Drain (use all fuel) or fill tank completely to prevent condensation buildup.

DO NOT RUN YOUR GAS OUT OF THE CARB!!! Your carb has rubber parts in it that the fuel with oil in it keeps lubricated. These rubber parts will get hard and crack when dry. Just be sure to run your motor with the stabil in the fuel. Fog the motor throught the carb while running then fog the cylinders through the spark plug holes. Put a light coat of WD40 over the whole engine compartment. If your worried about water in the motor unhook the hose on top of the head and blow air throught the motor waterjacket and it will force out most of the water left in the motor. Mike
