Won’t accelerate

What does it sound like when giving it throttle? Does it bog down, is it struggling to run? Does it feel like it wants to go but wont?

Did you remember to put your woodruf key back in when you put the flywheel back on? Or, are you sure the key is intact and not broken? I've seen motors that would start and idle just fine with a broken key, but the second you try and give any throttle they run like crap.

Have you messed with the carbs at all? Could be a dirty carb, how does the spark look, is it blue/white or orange/yellow?

I thought the same thing, rebuilt the carburetor no change, purchased a new carburetor and installed, no change. The spark is orange yellow.
The only anomaly I have noticed is when I do a voltage check of the stater while turning the engine over. I should be reading 30 to 50 V depending on battery charge. I’m getting 70. Never seen one that high.

You said it burned up a working cdi when you put one in? I'd maybe try throwing a new coil in see if that helps....im not that good when it comes to electronics myself but engine wise I'm pretty knowledgeable

Yeah, I'm probably not the best to ask about electronics I'm sure someone could help you way more than me, but I would for sure say it's an electrical problem

That is a good point. To be honest I’ve only observed the spark through my tester, which actually makes all spark look yellow because of the bulb.
Gotcha, yeah maybe just ground out the plug while outside the engine and observe the spark

Still have the same problem, idles fine but will not accelerate. Have replaced all electronic parts including a new stator. Is it possible that I did something wrong installing the stater? It’s pretty straightforward. I aligned the timing mark in the center. Woodruff key is intact and not broken.

Update. Found the problem. It was a bad Stator……brand new from SBT. This is the second bad Stator I have gotten from them. They also will not honor the warranty on the replacement saying they are only honoring the warranty on the original “bad” Stator they sold me. I tore apart everything looking for this problem only to find out SBT was selling bad parts…….never again will I buy from SBT.
