Nobody from here went or cares... sad

If I wasnt in Disney all week, I would have been there! I honestly thought about leaving my Disney vacation early to take the drive to Naples, but I was with my Brother, Sister in Law, Nephew and Niece and I dont get to spend enough time with them as it is since I moved down south....so I decided to stay.

Naples was a really fun event. Perfect venue. Probably the best as far as logistics goes. Easy spectator and pit parking, and easy access to the lake. Good turnout, but I think will grow each year. LEGIT freestyle field too. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Agreed, it was a good first year. Best event location I have seen. Too bad weather was iffy on Saturday, and really bad on Sunday. My girl will be posting some pics from the weekend.

Did you go?
No, Had surgery a month ago, took 6 days off work for recovery. My point is that at one time, people cared about racing and freestyle and they would report it. Now, not so much. There was nothing on PWCToday about it. I found some info usually next day on FB. Generally this crowd does not care about it. Different generation. Would I have liked to have been there. Yes. On the starting line waiting for a band to pop. I am either going to try and build up a new race ski or just pick up an AM Hull (But not for competition use).

BK, though competition is interesting it's not that big of a deal to most of the jet skiers on earth. Same as any type of recreation vs. Competition. We all drive a car, but most don't care about NASCAR. We have sailors all over the world, but relatively few care about the Americas Cup. Kings cup, world finals, surf slam are all for 1% of pwc owners. The rest just want to ride and have a little fun. I see people younger than us that have SO many hobbies and recreations available that they will never get into motorsports. Music, x-box, cycling, art, drugs, animals, Facebook, travel, church, skateboards, surfing, etc. Jet skis are a blip on their radar, and racing isn't even a spec of sand in relation. I've had an IJSBA competition membership, and I don't even care about who won last week. I just want to ride and have some fun.

They why are you even posting in this thread? And I totally understand what you said in post above.. Since I stopped racing back in 2008 I barely kept up until recently,, went and raced at the Hartwell Race and had a ball. Saw old friends and even pulled a solid 2nd Place in all 3 moto's. Freestyle, Did not go so well. Ended up doing a Dead Engine routine on Sunday.

Watching you do old school freestyle was the highlight of the freestyle competition in my opinion! Watching someone do a backflip is cool but it gets dull after watching them do it many many times in one routine. I could stay entertained all day watching somebody put on a show and do an old school routine like you did at Hartwell. And when your ski died you kept the show going with creative things to do with a dead ski haha. I enjoyed watching you by far compared to the others.
