Last year had a few riders that should've been riding pro. This year was a true amateur event.
this is the world finals, they dont need any jellyfish class. they already had enough flounders out there. hell, i could have beat a couple out of the 20.??? There were plenty of riders that could have been in pro with a bigger motor. Two big differences would be more combos and bigger height.
They need a beginner class or some sort of entry level freestyle class. It would be good for the sport to see what engine builders can do with say an 800cc or less motor in an a/m hull.

@egbrig this motor should be a game changer for ppl wanting 900 cc power like that! Anyone have info on it?
its the top 3 but you got the rest right. obviously any squid can run in the AM WFs. no offence to gary burtka/freestyle factory but i was kind of surprised to see him compete in the pro freestyle last year, since he wasnt in AM freestyle at WF before. i'm sure he runs in the AM circuit and wins. since this sport basically died, they cant discourage anybody these days if they want it to come back to life, even if they consider life on life support, life................Aren't the regional events the grassroots for the "Finals"? That's how it used to be. What is considered grassroots if not the regional events? As far as guys running AM in 2013 that you say should have been pro, they couldn't run pro because they hadn't "earned" it yet by placing in the top 2 of the AM class at a World Finals event.
Curious what engine size has to do with acquired skill? I understand where you are coming from and the mindset, but I don't think that 900 to 1200 or reverse is linear with skill. A competitor still can only do with available power. Example would be WF AM class 2012. DM was way ahead of anyone else that year, yet did not have access to more power than others, he just trained harder and coupled that with natural ability. Buzzard, thanks for clearing that up. I thought I read it was the winner of AM went pro and 2nd had the option, I guess 3rd has the option too? There should be some sort of rule if you compete 1200cc in Europe then competing in am at world finals should be a no-no. Regardless of the engine size you run at wf. For example if Lee Stone competed the European series on a 1200 then he should not be allowed to show up here and run a 900 and enter am.
