Everyone on the beach was really excited for Gomez’s run (given the surf-like conditions), but as soon as he hit the water.... it completely died down. Absolutely nuts.
What’s crazy is that he did 2 “Ninja Rolls” (1 handed & NO FOOTED barrel roll). But I don’t think anyone really noticed it because of the splash from the waves.
I knew it was coming, but I still had a hard time telling for sure. It was also cool to see him only having one superflip bar up doing his set ups.

As I said before, Freestyle was stacked this year. Everyone did really really well. Props to Lee for innovating once again. So much fun to watch him ride, and almost knock himself out landing that double barrel roll. Anyzeski had the best run I’ve ever seen out of him today, especially considering the conditions. Super stoked for him!

The microphones were cutting out here too! As said earlier Zeski was great in the rough, and I actually expected the waves to bring Stones performance down but instead he was a clear winner with a stellar performance in crap conditions!

Well done everyone. A shame with conditions Sunday. both AM and Pro packed and insane level of riding.
My personal opinion is, that some guys (both AM / Pro) was not honored enough for super high level of difficulty. In some routines, it seemed that it was better to play "safe" with some combos, that worked. Insted of doing new/crazy stuff.
Even Lee played it safe in his run Sunday.
Maybe some people are more aware of the score system and utilize this.

Yeah exactly, it seems last year difficulty was judged better. This year combos were judged better. It would be nice if they would document what they wanted...According to the rule book difficulty scores higher, but that is not what we saw in judging.
