Well I'm de-foaming my 96' superjet.

This hull has been around the block quite a bit. I acquired it this summer and rode it to the end of the year as is knowing full well it needed serious help. It even listed to one side severely when just floating. There were several water infiltration spots.

Cracked footholds
Leaky scupper
SEVERE leak around the thru-hull for the steering cable

Here is what I found... I could have kept a pet goldfish in here...

I have got my work cut out for me :Eyecrazy:

EDIT: Having trouble with the gallery, will post pictures later tonight.

Not certain, but it looks like a lot of water was coming in around the housing for the steering cable where it hits the pump cavity on mine. I also found evidence the driveshaft tube may be leaking and also at the inserts for the pump mounting. Not sure how to seal that area up exept using some silicone before putting the pump up.

Yes mine had a severe leak at the steering cable tube which was replaced sometime with rubber air hose....

It also had sprung leaks around the exhaust outlet.

What is everyone using to seal around stuff in there like the steering cable tube, driveshaft tube, exhaust etc.

3M5200?
2 Part Epoxy?

that is a bad ski. it is probably the first ski to backflip on the eastcoast. I remember when we made that diamondplate dash for it, plus i know you like that hoodstrap lol actually it is the same thing that malone is using right now. those footholds were the very first set of 24-7 footholds to go in a ski when 24-7 first put out footholds. Maros has been on that ski b4. It's also been to Havasu for world finals back in like 98 and Rick Roy got a ride on it.

Thanks for the history on the hull Ant. Yes, the 550 hood strap is probably my favorite thing about it.

The footholds are going in the trash as I was not able to salvage them. I am replacing them with a new set of the 24-7 universals.

So when was this thing built originally? 96? 97?

Was it ever de-foamed? I found some serious voids in the foam.

You guys did a great job of chopping the stock hood down and I'm assuming that is a homemade lowered nose piece as well?

I will start a build/resurrection thread for it in the buildup section and post some more pics.

It was originally bought brand new by my buddy and he did everything to it. The hood and paint was originally done in maybe 99-2000 . never defoamed/refoamed it is original. The nose piece is an original 24-7 one of the first one's they ever made. There was 760 in it at one point. It had X-2 hood latches on the side as you can probably see, which was an idea for before anybody had came out with or thought of hood straps.
