Worst 701 blow up?

Hi, a friend of mine blew up his 701. with Riva Head and Riva Dry pipe.
I wasnt with him on the ride, he said he just made a jump off a boat wake, ending in a sub. After riding riding straight out WOT for a secs when the engine klonks and somethings wrong.
What do you think?
Ever seen anything like this before?

Yup, motor couldn't compress the water so it got the relief it needed by busting the head right off the jugs, and took a little bit of jug with it.

That'll buff right out.....

Yeah, also my guess, but still he said, he had a flat straigh WOT run, I just thought that i would blow up pretty straight away after diving.

A girdle head would have stopped it ripping the top of the cylinder. But then again it may have meant the crank came out the side of the cylinder as well. Hard to know if it would have better or worse. I would be checking that crank its taken a huge hit

James, Yes it is?

Its not the brand of head that's the issue - its ungirdled and placing a lot of pressure (due to increased compression) on the thin walls of the water jackets. A glug of water probably did finish it off.

I ran one of these heads and got through two sets of cylinders that cracked just like those - before I ditched the head and got a girdled one - never had an issue since..
