WR250F Whats involved in making street legal (Texas)

I have been thinking about getting a 2009 WR250F. The only way I can begin to justify it is if I can make it street legal as some point. I know it is not the best choice for a road bike, but im not talking 50 mile trips at 70mph. I would just be using it to get to work (1 mile away) and locally.

Does anyone know what it takes to get one registered in the state of Texas? I cant seem to find this info specific to Texas anyway.

Thanks,

Yeah, I remember hearing that but I think I must go Yamaha. I have read in some states it is as easy as having a inspection garage go over all the items required then they give you a form to submit to the DMV.

Required items as far as I know...

Speedo (comes with)
Trip/ mileage meter (comes with)
High/Low beams (comes with but must change bulb)
Brake light powered by Batt. (comes with)
Ignition Switch (comes with (I think))
DOT approved Tires, Think I would need a new set of tires.

I think thats about it.

A WR250R is fully street legal. I'm saving for a KTM EXC right now, but the 250R would def be my second choice.

The side profile looks good but I dont like them to be honest. It looks to fragile, thats why I am really liking the '09. How is the EFI motor in the "R"? I was never really into motorcyles and have only had two, a PW80 and now a pink YZ80 from back in the day.

Are turn signals required these days? If so, I would wire and install my own that aren's so clunky.

Depends on your state laws, the only thing we had to do to our 2 stroke KTM's is put a horn on and we get them at Wal-Mart they are the squeeze type for a bicycle cost 2 bucks each.

We had head light and tail light, did not need a break light in MO. that’s what hand signals are for.

DOT tires also.

gotta give it to Yami for EFI and first valve inpsection at what? 25K?

Thumpers on the road are damn fun, but I'll be honest; I wish i could have that 2 stroke ping up and down the street.
