What have u guys been doing on the initial break-in with these? I've always run an oem wear ring. The liner on mine fits so snug that the impeller doesn't spin without considerable force. I know a tight gap between he impeller and ring is good but this is too tight. I thought I've read of peeps trying to let the impeller "seat" itself on the ring but if remember correct someone posted that the friction between the two surfaces caused the new plastic liner to warp and be trashed. I've sanded it some so that it spins with less force but there's still quite a bit of drag on the prop. Experienced suggestions welcome.

just spin the engine a few times and it will work itself in just perfect. I use them all the times and never had any problems with them. As a matter of fact, they can never swell up like the yamahas or wear out your impeller from rubbing.
cheaper and better=winning!!

ive been running one...mine was tight too just ran it and if the motor can turn it over it will wear itself in...

a ridding buddy had one in his ski...the plastic liner moved on his and covered the inlet for the water pickup and didnt allow enough water to go into the cooling system and it ruined his top end so keep an eye on it...

i have allot of hrs on mine with no problems so maybe it was just a fluke with his

Spray it down with some WD40 and fire it up, I also like to run water back into the pump with a hose when seating them in, anything to reduce the friction will work fine.

I like the sbt dupont white delrin liner better than the wsm liner.
You can use the sbt in the wsm housing also.

Steve, have you been drinking tiger blood? First you retire Whitney....now this. At least you aren't tweeting senseless bable. (you aren't, right?)

I used the wsm housing and mine was really tight when i installed it.....so much i could barely spin drive shaft......put a little grease and water in the pump housing before first startup and impeller wore itself in perfectly....no warping or anything

no way for this to happen on the SJ/blaster liners cause the cooling inlet is in the stator section!

Flat Fresh water can be an issue too. Suck a bottle cap or a piece of bark through and see what happens to your plastic liner. SeaDoo has been using plast oem forever and the local mechanics LOVE them as its garanteed cash flow monthly.

While it is true that I do love the cash flow, I must also point out that many wear rings I replace are just toast due to old age, at about the 10-12 year mark they disintegrate requiring replacement.

I would not use another one to be honest, and have moved towards the solas full stainless wear ring.

The plastic ones work well in fresh/flat water, but just do not last in the surf, especially if you ride the break and up the beach...

Now rick...you know you can't be running your ski up the beach sand, it's like sanding your prop and liner :ugh::noevil:

you never had that problem at the swamp though!:headbang::Banane37:
