WTB Yamaha FX1 Pro-Tec Ride Plate

Does anyone have a Pro-Tec ride plate for a Yamaha FX1? I have a Jet Dynamics that I'd be willing to trade, or I'll just buy the Jet Dynamics one outright. Thank you.

@jpswift1 What is your experience with the Jet Dynamics ride plate for your FX-1?
I was very pleased with it, but since it wouldn't fit with my 144mm pump swap, I traded it for a DG Quadrafin. I would highly recommend the Jet Dynamics or a DG Quadrafin over the Pro-Tec. The ski stays planted better in the turns.

Thank you! Where did you find the DG Quadra-Fin?

And what does DG
stand for?
On the FX1 Facebook group. I'm not sure what DG stands for. They are a performance parts company that has been around for a long time. They do mostly quad and dirtbike stuff, but they were into the watercraft performance parts for a little while years back.

If you can find one, the shredmaster rideplate is supposed to be the best all around.
I have a shredmaster and I find its not the best grip but its is predictable. It will move on your unlike the jet dynamics which will hold then let go all of a sudden. Im not sure which one is my favorite, i guess it depends on the way I am riding. I like them both

I have the Pro Tec ride plate which is flat and spins out when entering a turn unless I am on it using proper technique.

So, I ordered the Jet Dynamics ride plate today.

Speaking of proper technique. I am still a very lame rider. But a couple of weeks ago, I learned that riding surf stance and really really pressuring my back foot/leg on the tail of the ski very very hard to move my torso/nose over the front of the ski reduced spin out in turns and allowed me to feather how high the bow is entering and exiting a turn. Back foot pressure with less torso forward = more bow lift. Back foot pressure with more torso forward, more bow down. When I am really pushing my torso forward with my back leg, it feels to me that I am actually pushing the ski through the turn.

Today, I had the best day ever riding the FX-1. It made me even question whether I should have ordered the Jet Dynamics ride plate.

But really what is helping me improve my lackluster riding skills is riding my new to me 2019 Super Jet. It is so much easier to ride than the FX-1 that I get to try different things while bettering my technique. It is simply so much more tolerant of user error, that I have time to correct without getting dumped constantly.

Then I have been able to transfer that new to me good technique to the FX-1.

Finally, I was also able to go wide open throttle for unlimited distances today. In the past I would get scared at some point after the FX-1 stock pump started hooking up and the ski moved to light speed and I would throttle down to slow down before I got dumped.

I thought it was just me becoming a better rider, but my wife says no. She says that @waxhead's rear sponsons (she calls them "training wheels") have tamed the ski. I told her that I didn't think they could help on WOT straight runs because they aren't engaged in the water unless I am turning. But I don't really know if they are engaged or not because I am definitely not looking down and behind me when I am going WOT on the FX-1. But there is definitely a difference, so she is likely right that it is Wax's rear sponsons which are making the difference.

Tomorrow I will practice going back and forth trading with my wife from the 2019 to the FX-1 again and trying to refine my technique at even faster speeds.

Well Jet Dynamics' casting could be better. Unless you have one of these or are pretty steady handed with a flap disk on an angle grinder, you likely will not be able to fit the Jet Dynamics rideplate for the FX-1:

My jd plate went right in with minimal issues. Guess I was lucky I had to lightly file it up front near the shoe. Belt sander seems bit agressive was yours that far off? The front sponsons I feel are the biggest improvement. Between sponsons and the jd plate I can ride at wot on the fx1 now. I actually dnt take my superjet out nearly as much, gettin hooked on fx1. The fx1 progresses my riding skills and keeps me on my toes. The sj, like you said is MUCH more forgiving. It won't toss you like the fx1. I have fallen in love with my fx1 and am excited to ride it every time I take her out.

@E350 do you still have stock bars on your fx1? Looks like it in the pic, if you do, ditch them and get some wider bars. (I prefer 4° though a lot prefer 0°) I personally feel the zero degree fatigue me faster. But the bars alone make a HUGE difference. They ar waayy harder to ride with stock bars. That goes for any ski I've ridden. But especially noticeable on the fx1.
