Other Wtf is sea-doo thinking?

Yes I have seen the units all opened up and ridden them also. I will agree it looks nightmarish to work on, luckily I won't see one to work on for years down the road. Seadoos have always been built to sell parts so are Yamahas no new news here. :sadwavey:

this is just my opinion, which dosent mean $#it.......i work for a dealership and work on skis and it seems to be a awful lot of these coming in for electrical problems(mainly with throttle and brake controller and brake motors....maybe its the area i live in....these skis are constantly in the salt water...ridden by people that just bought it to own one...and so on.

MY BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THIS IS WHO THE HELL NEEDS A BRAKE ON A BOAT???????????

AND IF YOU NEED A BRAKE YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ON A JET SKI OR BOAT FOR THAT MATTER......I KNOW ITS A GOOD IDEA....JUST NEEDS MORE WORK IN THE DESIGN AREA IF IT BECOMES MORE POPULAR FOR ALL THE COUCH POTATOES OUT THERE!!

First off, no need for ALL CAPS, we can read lowercase just fine.

Second, aren't you biting the hand that feeds you? You work at a dealership, which (probably) sells the skis to make some money, and the owners mess them up so they bring them back in so you get to work on them and make some money. What if skis never broke down? You wouldn't have a j-o-b.

Be thankful for what pays the bills and feeds you and don't worry about what 'couchers' are riding because in the end it doesn't matter to you.

BTW, brakes are a good thing on skis IMO because it's obvious that it takes a long time for people to learn you have to have throttle to turn since their first instinct is to let go of the throttle.

Manufactures like to sell parts that's why they make replacement parts. Keeps the dealer in business. Its sad but true. I agree that skis are def getting complicated. I would love the tray of my sxr to have supension

Yes, all the jet ski/boat/car manufacturers build their vehicle to wear out over time. I work under contract as a test driver for an auto company, and we test up to the warranty mileage. Beyond that, they don't care if parts wear out. That's how they keep the business running, and customers buying new cars. There are a select few vehicles that we test WAY beyond 100,000mi, but 98% of our test fleet go 36,000 in 12 weeks and vanish.

Give BRP credit where it is due, most companies will not depart so radically from what is normal and produce something so vastly different, much less do it successfully. The links below are to a couple of radical departures from the norm that totally flopped, all nice cutting edge designs at the time, I Included the one for the 3D, even BRP doesn't knock it out of the park everytime.

not saying they are stupid, it just make working on your own ski next to impossible.....have you seen the electric brake motors in person? I have....it is basically a car window motor that controls the reverse gate...... Also have you ridden the new is?.....you stab the throttle...delay...delay..delay... Then throttle opens up....seems like it would have been easier to just keep the cable, better and cheaper.....this is just another way for sea-doo to make money, selling you parts right after the factory warr. Rode one a month ago, need to set SportMode for instant throttle response. It was the 1st Seadoo ever that I enjoyed riding. Slight cavitation on pullaway, an a/m impeller will fix that. Cornering is really good, you can run circuits and turn 90-degree at buoys(as long as you can hold on), really impressed with handling. Needs more topspeed, that is fixed with an over-ride modual as stock is limited by a gps speed-limiter. Didn't use the brake and didn't feel the suspension, just felt like a well balanced ski.
