yeah id like to know to, always wanted one but fell in love with the sj
It needs to be 1990-95 and be in very good condition to be worth anything.

$600 isn't a bad deal, but it's not a great deal either.
I'd keep a lookout for one that has a pipe or carb / other aftermarket parts. The hulls are cheap, and if you want an X2 that's any fun to ride, your looking at adding at least a Pipe ($250), Probably a bigger Carb($150), Head($100), etc... The aftermarket parts add up really quick compared to the Hull price.
Around Michigan, I'd pickup a bone stock ski for ~$400ish, or a modded one for ~$800, but I'm cheap... heh
A friend of mine picked up a 92 X2, WC Pipe, WC Head, Waterbox, SBN44, on a trailer for $600. He had to drive 800 miles round trip for it, but it was worth it.

How much did he spend on fuel to get it though?
My X2 is stock except a solas impeller and its great fun, I may add a few performance parts, but I'll just wait til used stuff comes along rather than spend bucks on new.

About $130 in fuel for the trip.
After riding a quick X2, I have a hard time having fun on a stocker.
The prices I quoted assume used parts, double that for new (If you can find new parts anymore.)

I have had heavily modded x-2's before and they are a blast. i will even go as far as to say i had more fun on my x-2 (quick steer, built pump, bored 650, high compression head, westcoast pipe, sbn 44, thumbthrottle, etc. the list goes on and on) than i had on my 2001 superjet (dual sbn 44's, factory b pipe, ada head, 760 engine, scoop grate, ride plate, yada yada.) When i was on my x-2 i didn't worry about hitting rocks or stumps or anything. It was extremely nimble. i could take it down creeks and i didn't hesitate to take it into any deep dark cove on the lake. It was a blast. For my first x-2 i paid $400 with all of the mods already done on it. the engine was apart with a brand new rebuild kit just sitting in the hull. the guy was just tired of the ski. Wait for one that is modded.

I tried one a long time ago and had a blast on it, literally; it was heavily modded, belonging to one of the Jersey riders.

That's only if you've already been tainted by big power. If you haven't, you can easily have fun on a mostly stock X2.
Not much, I started on one, actuall the same one...
I started on a X-2 when I was 16 then sold it for a couch two years later, big mistake! Always missed that ski and decided to buy another one this year. Picked up a minty 92 with UMI steering and a PJS nozzle for $600. It has a bone stock motor which I'm happy with till it blows, then its getting a 800! $500-600 is a good price for a very clean stock X-2. My X-2 has got me through alot of tough times this summer when my SXI hasn't been running. The only things I have changed is oil/crankcase blockoff, and back to the stock nozzle for better handling.

X2's make a sucky only ski. As a second ski, they are a neat project.
