Freestyle X Games? Flatwater Freestyle?

WILKEY

SO FAR CHANGE SUCKS!!!!!!
I will keep my mouth shut in this topic. But I will say I agree with the person that started the thread...... And I will say one more thing... Still can't believe all the hp people are putting out on these skis still no double flip on a double up or in the ocean other than Pierre. Leaves me to one thing..... All these people with money have zero balls. Give a junkie a nice skii for a week and doubles would be Goin down on regular basis.

Damn I guess hell with keepin my mouth shut;)

well............it is what it is..........

Has anybody been to a freestyle competition? I saw it the last Sunday of World Finals last year and it was friggin' boring to watch. I agree with a previous poster, too many damn fist pumps trying to get the crowd and judges going. I think it is on of those things that is better to participate in then just sit there on the couch or in the stands and watch.

Small sessions at my local lake are a ton more fun to watch, cause it's real guys spending there own money and having fun with it. Just my .02 cents on this subject.

So you can say that same thing about stuff like freestyle MX, Freestyle snowmobile, etc etc,
but all those are multi million dollar events, huge prize purses, national and international fame and race teams etc...

I said it once, il say it again, your all CORRECT. I was WRONG. there will NEVER be growth of this sport into what i, among others, would love to see. for the very simple reason, how the hell are we going to get others to believe in and watch the sport if the people of the sport dont even want it.

So thats was plain and simple.

I watched it and I didn't think it was boring. I think consecutive rolls, flips, underflips, 360s are pretty cool to watch but I guess I'm just easy to please compared to most.

I totally feel that. It seems like if you have 10K to invest in a lightweight hull and decent motor flatwater backflips and other tricks come easier than the rest of us starting out with 650s and 701s. If I knew my ski had enough power to flatwater backflip, the likely hood of me landing the trick is obviously better than on my waterlogged 701. The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again expecting a different result and on my limited setup I'm just asking to get hurt knowing i'll most likely never get full rotation, it's not that I don't have the balls to try it.

I think there is a lot of younger kids starting to get into the sport now and a 150 pound 14 kid on a an old SN showing up the older 225 pound guys complaining about fist pumping is going to change to future of this sport. For the record I'm 28 and if a 14 year old shows me up so be it...

As far as x-games go I think there needs to be more progression on the hull and steering designs to allow more tricks. I was talking to some one about a handle pole with a locking/unlocking gyro system like the BMX bikes have so you can do the tail whips but with your jet ski. (your body stays stationary and ski rotates 360+ degrees.). A flatrwater course with ramps and rails where you can do rail slides with your ski. Look at the wakeboarders. I remember when it was just flipping off of boat wakes. and now they have wakes kating where there are no bindings and its like skateboarding on water...

If we want it to be in x-games we have to be more innovative in my opinion...

Jet skiing is far from boring to watch. It all depends on how it is set up. Have you guys seen the Sea World show in Australia? It's freakin awesome.
Plus, every time I go out with a professional rider, a crowd gathers around and watches for at least an hour... surf or flat

I firmly believe our sport is progressing and could have a spot on the X games or something similar in the future.

I'm 24, Just getting into the sport. Honestly, I think it's a matter of awareness. I always knew stand ups 'existed' but never thought anything more of them than hard to ride versions of sit downs, and i think that's what the vast majority sees them as. "why on earth would i buy that?" Then when i was exposed to some videos of what people can do with these things... lightbulbs went on. We need to show people why on earth they would be interested!

If 'we' really wanted it to become a big thing... all it would take is a couple of blowsion commercials aired during the xgames for a couple years. that'll get the clueless thinking hey, that looks awesome. Then you have growth of demand, then you have manufacturers putting more money into design, etc etc etc.

back flip back flip barrel roll barrel roll back flip back flip.. boring boring boring............. IMO that's why

Yea, but the sport was somewhat dead before it became a back flip contest. The backflip contest seems like its only been the last few years. In fact, I thought it went downhill after Malone stopped competing in Worlds, but the sport was pretty dead before that.

i said it before and ill say it again. if figureskatingcoughflatwater freestyle gets in to X Games before freeriding the sport is dead.

when we freeriders go out in the surf and compete we risk life and limb going big. people want to see amplitude and possibility for carnage.

freestyle, what do you guys risk? getting your hair wet and missing a fist pump? you guys dont even wear helmets..... what does that say....

i respect freestylers for what you guys do and last years WF was great but.... it comes down to risk.

What do you all think about freestyle MX?

I don't care if its flat water or surf, just saying FW would be easier to like have as part of XGAMES, you just need a large pool...
Its tough to take an ocean into a stadium.

Jetskiing in general would be awesome to see in a national level broadcast.
