im thinking about doin a x-metal pole instead of the usual UMI for my sxr over the winter sand i was wondering what all i would need, or if i could get away with just using their kit and then gettin a chinpad. i emailed the guy there a few days back but no reply and i figure somebody on here has to know something

Well, your going to need the oversized bushings for sure (blowsion) and a superjet steering kit (might as well get x metal). You will also need a way to attach the steering cable to the left side of the pole or it will steer backwards. (I don't know if the X Metal pole has this built in or not). You will also need a superjet pole pad.

just got an email from patrick at x-metal and he says all i need from them is the pole, which comes with the steer cable adapter and all the correct bushings. i realize that i would need the xmetal steering and the chinpad to really make this thing work right. can i get this pole in any size? hows the warranty?

as far as i know you can get the pole from standard to a -4 inch you can also get the turn plate that cuts off another inch or so ask pat (x-metal) . i've only seen one of his poles bend and ouch:splatt: you would not want to do what he did..:frown: if any of pats stuff goes bad he will take care of you

They now make a kawi pole with the steering adapter on the correct side. You don't have to use the X-metal turn plate, so you might as well get a kawi conversion plate, instead of modifying the x-metal turn plate. Blowsion sells the plate you need. Someone here on the x was just selling a SXR pole conversion kit.

the blowsion or xmetal is also usable, you just have to flip it over

The Blowsion yami turnplate can not be used. I have never touched an x-metal so I can't say that it can't, but I don't think it can be used either...

If you flip it over, you loose the little recessed grooves the o-rings and bearing cap are suppose to sit into.

I tried using a Kawi Conversion plate on my Yami, and that was the problem I ran into, so I believe it would be the same vice versa.

unless the groove are exactly the same on the top and bottom, I don't think you can... I wouldn't put that in stone, but I'm pretty sure. I sold my kawi conversion plate for that reason.

WELL..anyone wanna buy a -1 blowsion kawi turnplate?

ok a few more questions... is the standard length x-metal pole the same length as a stock SJ pole (-2 kawi) and which steering system should i use because im not very mechanicalyy inclined so whatever just bolts up the best way if its the blowsion or a umi or what... or i could just invite myself over to kx454's house and do the mod route :sneaky:

a standard x-metal pole is 2 inches shorter than a stock SJ pole. I'm not sure about its length compared to a stock kawi pole though...

The steering plate that will bolt right up will be the blowsion kawi converison plate, which wydopen is now selling, so you can get cheaper than new, and also the wamiltons plate, which can be used on either a SJ or a kawi, b/c it has steering cable mounting tabs on both sides.
