X-metal steering

Currently own it for 2nd year, I took it out in the salt water a few times and the bearing rusted. Took it apart and greased it seemed OK but its not smooth anymore, the bolt keeps coming loose. But it still works RRP is probably better haven't tried it.

If it uses stock bushings then it will get loose like a Stocker eventually but should survive in the salt if you ride there. The RRP system is sooo smooth and never gets floppy.

Cold fusion fat bar set up is buy far the best uses stock bushes and only $130

Yeeeeah.... NO.
I have the CF and the Xmetal. The cold fusion allowed me to run the riser bars, which is fine, it works but its not a bearing based system by any means.
Nothing wrong with it, it shortens up the steering its great quality. But lets not fist pump just yet.

I really like my Xmetal setup. It takes a little to get dialed in, and I reccomend using some blue loctite on the small bolt that comes in from the bottom.
Unfortunately I don't ride surf, so I can't comment on how it holds up in that arena, but on flat/fresh water its great. Basically no resistance, its almost weird at first, until you ride a buddies ski and feel how much effort is required to steer.

What I like the most about the Xmetal, besides the smoothness of the steering, is the adjustability. If I want to chop my pole a couple inches, I can and then move the bars to dial in the sweet spot.

I've ridden some skis with the RRP and they were fine/ nice also... no complaints.
For the money a RRP setup would run you (I just looked it up, holy crap!), you could look at the Titan option as well.

Hummm...I think that RRP is the way to go.
Im 100% salted.
Thanks

Damn, didn't see this til after I posted.

Yeah, if you're all salty (brah) then maybe the Xmetal isn't right for you. Odd though, those Xmetal guys are based out of Flo-rida, pretty much all salt there.

:dunno:

carry on.

Sorry my x metals lasted a month in the surf before it started to bind maybe I installed it wrong or didn't put enough grease on the bearings but I did like it just needs maintance if you ride salt

Swap meet considering I'm only trying to help someone your post didn't help anyone but was just rude I just told him what works for me in the surf

Ok I like you last post I'm ging to steal the virtual sorry and I thought you yanks didnt know how to have a joke clearly I was wrong ....... Or how we Aussies like to say take the piss out of each other

Ouch Swap, he just called you a "Yankee". Well I'll chime in. Had the cold fusion and it is nice, but might get sloppy with time. Have RRP and super smooth with no slop. Went to a WDK steering and it is the best that I have had. Not saying it is the best, just the best I've had. RRP is fo sale. OP, I know you asked about the X-Metal, I have no experience with it, probably a nice setup also.

I have one of the first x scream adj steering (3-4 years old).. Ride nothing but salt, had it apart once for grease.

RRP looks like it might be sealed better.

Why would bushings make it get loose? It is the nut that holds the plate on that makes it loose. Cold-Fusion also sells a slick locking nut so it will never loosen on you.

I've been running a CF riserbar set up for over 2 years and it never loosened on me with the locking nut.
