650/X-2 X2 wont idle

i have a 1990 x2 thats all stock and it runs great but wont idle at all. the fuel pump is good but was thinking might be the carb? since its running when i hold the throttle open but will only idle for a short period of time then when i restart it i have to prime everytime. any other possibilities? thanks in advance.

Mine does the same thing I can't figure it out. I changed the pump, carb, fuel lines. And the tank holds pressure

Dumb question but have you adjusted the idle up? Does the pulse line have a air tight seal on the pulse barb?

Haha yes I made sure to adjust that first. As far as the pulse line I am not 100% sure about. Best way of checking that?

Have you cleand up the carb(s) jet ?

Could be that there is dirt in the carb, or that the membrane is covert with oxidation. A nice clean could help allot!

Also check if the is no air leak in the intake!

Thanks for the advice guys. Ended up getting a new carb and fuel pump and haven't had any more problems.

Tried to clean the damn thing but it was stored by the beach and the carb was a little beyond repair and cleaning. Some adjustments were snapped off. Haha

eek, yea replacement is easier then refurbishing at that point

For future readers of this thread... the carb has two idle adjustments. Minimum idle speed and idle mixture. Idle mixture is very important because it affects how much fuel and oil go to the engine, and therefore the lubrication. FYI, there is also a high speed mixture adjustment screw, which is even more important.
